Giants and 49ers Clash for the NFC Championship game

After two huge upsets, the San Francisco 49ers and the NY Giants will square off this Sunday for a spot in
the Super Bowl. The two teams beat the Saints and the Packers, respectively, in what was a shocking divisional weekend.

San Francisco probably played their best game of the season, with Alex Smith playing tremendously, and
their defense stepping up to the challenge of stopping Drew Brees with a 36-32 win over New Orleans.

Giants and 49ers Clash for the NFC Championship gameThe 49ers won with 9 seconds left on the clock, with Vernon Davis scoring in the last play of the
game. “You’ve got to call it ‘The Grab,’ ” Davis said of his play. “We were down. I had to make it happen
to take my teammates where we want to go.”
“This is huge for us,” Davis said. “It’s history, legendary, anything you can describe.”

Legendary was the butt whipping the NY Giants gave to the 15-1 Green Bay Packers, with Eli Manning
throwing for 330 yards, three touchdowns and one interception in the 37-20 win at Lambeau. “I think
we’re a dangerous team,” Giants coach Tom Coughlin said. “I like where we are and how we’re playing.”
“This team knows how to win on the road,” defensive end Justin Tuck said. “It seems like right now it’s
our time.”

The NY Giants are 4-0 in NFC Championships games, and the 49ers haven’t played a championship game
since 1998 when they lost to Green Bay as the home team.
“I knew we were going to beat them on Wednesday, to be honest with you,” running back Brandon
Jacobs said.

The Giants and the 49ers already met this season, with San Francisco winning 27-20.

The game on Sunday starts at 6:30 ET, right after the AFC game. Stay tuned to MTS for our NFL free picks!
