Jayden Daniels Injury Update: Commanders QB Will Miss Week 15

  • What: Commanders vs. Giants
  • Where: MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J.
  • When: Sunday, Dec. 14 at 1 p.m. ET
  • How to Watch: FOX

With the NFL postseason around the corner, we know the Commanders of Washington aren’t going to be in the playoffs. It’s been a rough year for Washington, as they have struggled on a consistent basis. Injuries have made things worse for the NFC East team, including at quarterback. More bad news has arrived for Washington, as Jayden Daniels won’t play this weekend.

Daniels, a former first-round pick out of LSU, is dealing with an elbow injury. In some good news for Washington, it’s not a serious injury for the quarterback. Unfortunately, he’s still bothered by things and he has been ruled out for this weekend’s game. Without Daniels out on the field, it’s going to be even more difficult for the Commanders to post a win.

“Sunday will mark the seventh game Daniels has missed because of injury this season,” ESPN’s John Keim wrote. “He left each of his past three games because of an injury. After dislocating the elbow against the Seattle Seahawks, Daniels missed the ensuing three games but was cleared to return last week. That was the first time Daniels and his top three receivers were available in the same game since Week 2.”

Jayden Daniels has been ruled out for Washington vs. New York on Sunday

With Daniels not playing, that means Marcus Mariota is going to get the start. This just adds to the terrible news for Washington this year, as the team is 3-10 entering Week 15. This was supposed to be a big year for them, but the season has been a disaster instead. This weekend, the Giants, 2-11 on the year, are hoping to inflict more pain.

It has also been a terrible season for the Giants, which has included the team firing Brian Daboll as head coach. Earlier in the season, superstar wide receiver Malik Nabers suffered a torn ACL, which changed everything for the G-Men. Jaxson Dart, a 2025 first-round pick, has started games, but he’s also been dealing with concussion issues.

Things have been a mess for both teams, but now they’re just trying to stay healthy with the end of the season almost here. Washington isn’t going to rush Daniels back from his injury, especially with Washington not headed to the playoffs. Per the best sports betting sites, New York holds -110 NFL betting odds to post a win this weekend.

It will be interesting to see just how much time Daniels misses, but it wouldn’t be a surprise if he’s out for the rest of the year. People who participate in Fantasy Football are also going to be keeping a close eye on his health status, as Daniels missing games isn’t good news for respective users either. With all of that said, the sooner Daniels can get healthy for Washington, the better.
