Lawrence’s ascension
Trevor Lawrence threw for 318 yards and four touchdowns in a 40-24 overtime win over the Cowboys on Sunday. Last year’s No. 1 overall pick has come out of the Jaguars’ Week 11 bye on fire, averaging 296.5 passing yards with 12 combined TDs and one pick in the past four contests.
Sitting at 6-8, Jacksonville is just one game behind the Titans for first place in the AFC South. After heading to New York on Thursday, they’ll play the one-win Texans in Week 17 before hosting Tennessee in the regular-season finale.

Jets lose third straight
New York fans had hoped they’d seen the last of Zach Wilson. But after Mike White suffered a rib injury against the Bills in Week 14, their disappointing sophomore QB was forced back into action on Sunday. Wilson completed 18 of 35 passes for 317 yards, 2 TDs and an INT in the 20-17 defeat to the Lions.
Given that he’s not very good, the 23-year-old can’t be blamed for the loss. Yet, with three straight L’s, the 7-7 Jets will be hard pressed to make the postseason with upcoming games against the Jags, Seahawks and Dolphins. Three teams in playoff battles of their own.
New York vs Jacksonville
Oddsmakers have the Jets-Jaguars matchup listed as a pick’em with the over-under set at just 41 total points. Robert Saleh’s defense is tied for fourth in the NFL in points allowed per game (18.8). Gang Green also allows the fourth-fewest passing yards per contest (193.9). However, Quinnen Williams could miss the Thursday Nighter with a calf injury. The big defensive tackle has 11 sacks and 12 tackles for losses this season.
Jacksonville is also banged up after losing both their offensive tackles, Cam Robinson (knee) and Jawaan Taylor (hamstring), on Sunday. That could be a blow to Doug Pederson’s offense, which ranks top ten in passing (240.7) and rushing (127.2) yards per game, heading into Week 15.

Best Bet
New York seems like the better, tougher football team. But the quarterback matchup is an absolute mismatch. Zach Wilson will shrivel in primetime while Lawrence will continue his late-season ascension.
Final Score Prediction: Jacksonville 20, Jets 17
