While guys like Justin Tucker and Adam Vinatieri command our collective respect, the place kicker position mostly goes ignored until some poor bastard misses wide right in the Super Bowl or Peyton Manning calls his teammate an “idiot kicker.”
However, Sunday’s big game between the Rams and Bengals features two of the best kickers in the NFL in Matt Gay and rookie Evan McPherson. Today, we’ll look at the Super Bowl props odds for these field goal machines. You can also check out the top betting sites for NFL football in 2022 and get advice for how to wager on Super Bowl 56.
Total Made Field Goals
3 | +250 |
2 | +325 |
4 | +325 |
1 | +550 |
5 | +550 |
6 or More | +650 |
Zero | +1600 |
Will “Money Mac” do it again?
Three total made field goals (+250) is the favorite despite the fact that Evan McPherson has drilled four kicks in all three playoff contests to this point, including two walk-off game winners against the Titans and Chiefs. The 22-year-old rookie’s 12 field goals in a single postseason is just two shy of Vinatieri’s record from 2006.
Matt Gay has hit seven-of-nine playoff field goals for the Rams after an incredible regular season where he converted on 32-of-34 (94%) kicks – which actually topped Money Mac’s mark of 28-of-33 (85%). Bottom line is that both guys have big legs and are trusted by their coaches and teammates. Five FGs at +550 just feels right.
Is it all shaping up for another Evan McPherson monster moment in #superbowllvi? It could. But McPherson actually impacts the game more overall than you may think. I explain on NFL NOW on @nflnetwork pic.twitter.com/AYEz31w83x

Will FG or PAT Hit Crossbar?
No | -650 |
Yes | +475 |
Doink!
Remember the infamous “double-doink” game? Cody Parkey’s 43-yard field goal attempt at the buzzer hit the crossbar not once but twice in a 16-15 NFC Wild-Card loss to the Eagles and the Bears cut him after an ill-fated “Today Show” appearance.
Well, only one “doink” is required to cash a +475 wager in this one. Yet, the two kickers have missed only 12 of 198 combined FG and point-after attempts this season and playoffs, not to mention having to hit the uprights. The odds should be MUCH longer.
Length of First Made FG
30 to 36 Yards | +250 |
37 to 43 Yards | +325 |
44 to 49 Yards | +325 |
23 to 29 Yards | +350 |
50 or More Yards | +500 |
1 to 22 Yards | +800 |
0 Field Goals Made | +1600 |
Bet on the Big Legs
This one is a crapshoot, let’s be honest. So, we might as well bet on a 50-plus yarder at +500 and hope McPherson delivers from deep again. The Bengals’ 5th RD pick has 12 FGs from more than 50 yards this regular season and playoffs combined – the most of all-time.
Matt Gay is also no slouch, connecting on four-of-six 50 yarders in 20 games this year.

Result of Game’s 1st Punt
Caught Clearly | -300 |
Ball Hits Ground | +450 |
Touchback | +450 |
Out of Bounds in Air | +900 |
Blocked or Tipped | +1200 |
Yup, you can bet on punting
While Matthew Stafford vs. Joe Burrow is a fascinating QB matchup for the ages, all eyes will be on Huber vs. Hekker in this one.
Oddsmakers list “caught clearly” (-300) as the heavily favored outcome of the first punt of the game. The ball touching the ground is +450, as is a touchback (+450). And if either the aforementioned Kevin Huber or Johnny Hekker shank it out of bounds, that’s +900. The most profitable result for bettors would be a blocked or tipped punt, as that’s available at +1200.
