- BetOnline has made Patrick Mahomes (+160) the early favorite to win his second-career Super Bowl MVP
- Matthew Stafford (+375) and Cooper Kupp (+1000) could be playing at home in SoFi Stadium in a couple weeks
- Joe Burrow (+1000) is the sole Bengal atop the board while Jimmy Garappolo (+1000) and Deebo Samuel (+1200) have the shortest odds of all San Francisco stars
With only four teams still alive in the NFL playoffs, now’s the perfect time to get a jump on Super Bowl MVP betting.
While we won’t know who will be squaring off in Los Angeles on February 13 until the Chiefs/Bengals and Rams/49ers do battle on Championship Sunday, we do know that quarterbacks have claimed the award in four of the past five years, seven times in the last decade, and in 13 of the past 20 seasons .

Put money on Mahomes?
With the Chiefs now a +130 favorite to win their second Lombardi Trophy in two seasons, Patrick Mahomes is available at just slightly longer odds (+160) to win his second Super Bowl MVP.
While the 26-year-old is priced as a lock for the award with a KC victory, keep in mind that even Tom Brady failed to claim the honor during two of his seven Super Bowl triumphs, losing to Deion Branch (SB 39) and Julian Edelman (SB 53). That means you have to at least leave the door open for Travis Kelce (+2000) or Tyreek Hill (+2000).

Storybook ending for Stafford?
Matthew Stafford’s SB MVP odds (+375) offer more value in comparison with Mahomes when priced against a Rams Super Bowl win (+210). Winning the award would provide a storybook ending for the 33-year-old after he suffered in Detroit for 12 seasons – but his teammate Cooper Kupp (+1000) could easily grab more votes if he puts up a line (9-183-1) like he did against the Buccaneers on Sunday.
If Los Angeles were to take down the Chiefs, one would also assume three-time Defensive Player of the Year Aaron Donald (+2800), Super Bowl 50 MVP Von Miller (+5000), or even cornerback Jalen Ramsey (+10000) would play a big part in the upset.
The Jimmy’s and the Joe’s
Jimmy Garoppolo’s SB MVP odds (+1000) are over double those of the 49ers capturing their sixth Lombardi Trophy (+400), and just slightly ahead of all-purpose weapon Deebo Samuel (+1200), who had 1,405 receiving yards, 365 rushing yards and 14 total TDs this season.
Other prominent Niners include edge rusher Nick Bosa (+3300), tight end George Kittle (+4000) and Elijah Mitchell (+3300). While a running back hasn’t won Super Bowl MVP since Terrell Davis a quarter century ago, it’s worth mentioning that the Broncos legend played under Mike Shanahan.

Joe Burrow’s SB MVP odds (+1000) line up closely with Cincinnati’s Super Bowl odds (+800). In fact, the next Bengal is way down the board – Joe Mixon at +6600.
With the former Heisman winner and National Champion just two wins away from adding to his trophy case, it might not be the worst idea to bet on Burrow claiming Super Bowl MVP if you believe he can knock off Mahomes and the Chiefs this Sunday.
