The Buccaneers of Tampa Bay are 5-1 to start off the 2025 season and Baker Mayfield is looking like a candidate for the Most Valuable Player. Tampa Bay has dreams of winning the Super Bowl, but the organization is dealing with plenty of injuries. More specifically, a lot of Buccaneers fanatics are worried, as the new Emeka Egbuka injury report will impact the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The player who is in his first season in the National Football League is dealing with a hamstring injury. He suffered the injury against the 49ers of San Francisco last weekend. Tampa Bay was able to win that game but Egbuka got hurt. National Football League reporter Ian Rapoport said that Egbuka will not play in Week 7 against Detroit and it’s unknown if he will miss more games.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Emeka Egbuka won’t play against the Lions with a hamstring injury
This is bad news for people who have Emeka Egbuka on their fantasy football teams too. For now, Egbuka won’t play in Week 7 and the earliest he’ll be able to return will be Week 8. With the Bucs on a BYE in Week 9, there’s also the possibility that head coach Todd Bowles will keep the rookie off the field until Week 10. This is surely bad for the team’s NFL betting odds moving forward.
If this ends up being the case, there’s going to be a long stretch where Tampa Bay will be without him. In some good news for the Bucs, future Hall-of-Famer Mike Evans, also dealing with a hamstring injury, is hoping to get back on the field to take on the Lions. It’s a bit uncertain if he’ll play or not. Chris Godwin is also working his way back.
With Egbuka for sure out for Week 7, it’s going to lead to more opportunities for Sterling Shepard, Tez Johnson, Kameron Johnson and others. Could it result in tight end Cade Otton getting more targets? That’s definitely on the table for the Bucs, as not having Egbuka is going to hurt the offense.
Mayfield has looked like one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL this season, but having so many receivers injured is a pain. Luckily for him and Bowles, Tampa Bay has been able to overcome things and still record impressive wins. It will be interesting to see how much not having Egbuka will impact the team against the Lions, as the result could impact Super Bowl betting odds for the future too.
Detroit is coming off a tough loss to Kansas City during Sunday Night Football and they’re going to want to get back on the right track. Tampa Bay is going to look to make things tough for them, however. We’ll see how everything plays out here, but it could be a rough night on offense for Tampa Bay with Egbuka watching from the sidelines. The sooner he can get back on the field, the better for TB.
