Jets to bury Bills in Week 6 Monday Night Football upset

  • Buffalo (3-2) is a 2.5-point road favorite over the New York Jets (2-3) in their AFC East rivalry matchup
  • Aaron Rodgers is under .500 through five starts for the first time since 2012
  • Monday Night Football kicks off from MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ at 8:15 pm ET

After racing out to a 3-0 start to the season, Buffalo has dropped consecutive games against the Ravens and Texans. Josh Allen and the Bills will look to get back on track against a Jets squad that’s also lost two in a row.

Quarterback struggles

Josh Allen is coming off the worst passing day of his career, completing only 9 of 30 attempts for 131 yards and a TD in Sunday’s 23-20 loss to the Texans. Buffalo’s franchise quarterback hit his head hard against the turf midway through the fourth quarter. While he only ended up missing one snap thanks to the help of smelling salts, he looked “off” while throwing three straight incompletions from the Bills endzone that ultimately led to Houston’s game-winning field goal.

Aaron Rodgers suffered an ankle sprain in the Jets’ 23-17 loss to Minnesota. The 40-year-old tossed three interceptions in the defeat, including a pick-six, before falling short in a second-half comeback bid.

Running in opposite directions

James Cook finished Sunday’s contest with 99 total yards and a touchdown. The third-year back already has four TDs this season after scoring four combined over his first two years.

Meanwhile, Breece Hall continues to be stuck in mud, rushing for only 23 yards on nine carries in the Week 5 loss to Minnesota. To the disappointment of his fantasy football owners, the 23-year-old ranks 34th in the NFL with 197 rushing yards in 2024 while averaging 3.0 yards per carry.

New York vs Buffalo

Buffalo is a 2.5-point road favorite on Monday Night Football and the over/under is set at 41.5-points. New York ranks inside the top-five in points per game allowed (17.0) and Robert Saleh’s group has held the Bills QB in check at times. Allen torched the Jets for 275 passing yards and three TDs in their last meeting, but he tossed three picks in last year’s season opener at MetLife Stadium.

Rodgers remembers that season opener all too well, of course. Following two-straight defeats, he’ll need a strong performance to dispel rumors of his demise. On the bright side, he peppered Garrett Wilson with 22 targets in Week 5, leading to a 13-catch, 101-yard day for his star wide receiver.

Best Bet

Whichever AFC East club loses this game will create panic in the streets amongst their fan bases. While Allen is a superior quarterback to Rodgers at this stage of their careers, Gang Green’s defense might be the best unit in the game.

We’ll take the Jets to cover the +2.5 points and win outright (+125) in Week 6 with the UNDER 41.5.
