  • Bovada has updated lines on every Week 2 matchup
  • The Cowboys and Colts will rebound from upset losses in Week 1 and cover their respective spreads against Atlanta and Minnesota
  • The Giants (+200) over the Bears is the best moneyline upset on the board

It was a profitable opening weekend to the NFL season as we went 4-0 against the spread and nailed all three moneyline upsets in our Week 1 picks.

While it’s likely all downhill from here, let’s examine the Week 2 spreads, moneylines and totals at Bovada to see if we can replicate our success and make you money this Sunday.

COVERING THE SPREAD

No team had a worse Week 1 than the Cowboys, who were upset by the Rams and lost tight end Blake Jarwin and linebacker Leighton Vander Esch to injury. However, never forget the Falcons are a terrible team with a bad defense and an overmatched coach who should have been fired two seasons ago. BET: Dallas (-4.5)

Will Aaron Rodgers’ renaissance continue against the Lions in Week 2? We don’t see why not. Establish The Run’s offensive-line expert Brandon Thorn has this as a matchup between Green Bay’s No. 1 overall OL versus Detroit’s 32nd-ranked defensive line. The Pack will pour on points at home, and with Kenny Golladay still out of the lineup, Matthew Stafford won’t be able to keep up. BET: Packers (-6.5).

The Colts and Vikings were embarrassed by divisional rivals in Week 1, both seeing their Super Bowl odds fall all the way to +4000, but Philip Rivers looked comfortable running Indy’s offense despite throwing two picks. Meanwhile, Mike Zimmer’s defense looked awful versus Green Bay after a sea of offseason change. BET: Colts (-3)

Finally, and against our better judgment, we believe Jon Gruden’s Raiders will keep things close with New Orleans in the Monday nighter. Drew Brees and his diminished arm will have trouble moving the chains without Michael Thomas, and Las Vegas has one of the best backs in the league in Josh Jacobs. BET: Raiders (+5.5)

MONEYLINE PICKS

Here’s how this section works: We’ll put forward our three best upset picks each week and claim victory if they land (as they did last week) and take no responsibility if they fall flat and leave you begging for change on the street.

The Giants looked surprisingly feisty in their 26-16 loss to the Steelers on Monday night and Saquon Barkley should have a much easier time moving the ball against a Bears defense that is no longer dominant. Despite his turnover-prone ways, we also believe Danny Dimes gives the G-Men the quarterback edge over Chicago and Mitch Trubisky. BET: Giants (+200)

After rewarding our faith in them last week, we’re going to keep riding with the Washington Football Team. Kyler Murray and the Cardinals ran all over the 49ers last weekend, but Ron Rivera’s dominant defensive line should present a much stiffer challenge. BET: Washington (+255)

Bill Belichick was effusive in his praise of Russell Wilson this week, saying he doesn’t “really see anyone better.” We fully agree with his assessment of Mr. Unlimited, but with last year’s Defensive Player of the Year Stephon Gilmore glued to the hip of ascending superstar DK Metcalf, we believe Cam Newton’s ball-control offense will keep this tight, setting up a potential upset. BET: Patriots (+170)
