NFL Predictions AFC South Division

The Houston Texans want to win their third straight AFC South division title, but the Colts and the Titans might have something to say about it.

Colts-vs-texans - Andrew LuckThe Texans defense is really good with JJ Watt leading the pass rush, and their offense is balance and scary at times, but they can’t seem to make a deep run the playoffs; the reason? Matt Schaub.

Schaub needs to become a more consistent passer when opponents pressure him.  They also could use another weapon other than the Andre Johnson on the outside.

Running back Arian Foster hasn’t played in the preseason due to back injuries.  He’s not comfortable, and that’s could be an issue for Houston.   Foster’s yards per-carry average has dropped over the past three seasons from 4.9 to 4.4 to 4.1.

The Texans biggest threat is the Colts. Andres Luck showed no signs of the second year slump during the preseason.  He seemed in sync with Reggie Wayne and TY Hilton, and the Colts are young and ready to take this division back.

“The only thing is, he’s running way too much. I know that,” head coach Chuck Pagano said while also praising Luck’s command of the offense, via Bob Kravitz of the Indianapolis Star. “We’ve got to do a better job of keeping him clear. But that’s another dimension that people have got to contend, the ability to extend plays and create.”

The Titans improved their offensive line by drafting OG Change Warmack from Alabama, and bringing Andy Levitre to run the ball with Chris Johnson.  Tennessee might be the only team who can and want to play old school football.

Last but not least are the Jacksonville Jaguars.  With Blaine Gabbert… oh why do I bother?  They are horrible.
