The Indianapolis Colts and NY Jets open their NFL preseason this Thursday when they clash at the MetLife Stadium, at 7 PM ET.
The NY Jets have the QB battle between Michael Vick and Geno Smith; Vick is number two and Smith is one, but that can chance in the preseason.
“I’ve had a couple different experiences in the preseason. The one thing you don’t want to do is not take a realist approach in trying to go out there and accomplish something. When you try to just get through it, then bad things always tend to happen; for me, it’s always been an injury,” said Michael Vick.
“Whether [Smith] needed Mike Vick to be here or not, Iβm not sure. But probably not, because I know Geno wants it in the worst way to be a great quarterback and the preparation that he did in the offseason, the things he did, but certainly with Mike Vick in there, that does push him. But theyβre really good together,” Geno Smith responded.
The Indianapolis Colts will put QB Andrew Luck about a series or two; also, wide receiver TY Hilton is not expected to be on the field as much.
“We’re going to play it by ear,” coach Chuck Pagano said. “You never know what’s going to happen. We’d love to see, in a perfect world; them go out there and have six, seven, eight-play drive and score a touchdown, kick the PAT and then make a decision whether to get them out of the game.”
The NY Jets are 3-point favorites in the NFL preseason odds, and the game total is 37 at points.
