Geoff JohnsonThe last time the Detroit Lions visit Oakland they came out with a last second win beating the Raiders by one point, that gave Detroit a clear opportunity to fight for a playoffs spot. Lions and Raiders will square off this Saturday at 7 PM ET.
Detroit is one of the best teams to bet on in the preseason, especially since Jim Schwartz took over the team with an 11-3 record, and they are coming off a 27-12 victory over Baltimore. “We got into a little bit of a rhythm,” Mathew Stafford said. “When we kind of figured out what they were doing, we went out and executed.”
“We see that same coverage out there, our mouths start to water, we get hungry,” Calvin Johnson said. “They were blitzing a lot so we left their corners, their DBs, on an island. That’s what we look for.”
The Raiders have lost the two preseason games so far, but they didn’t look as inept in the 31-27 lost against the Cardinals, as they did in the first matchup against Dallas.
“We have got to execute better. We’ve got to eliminate the turnovers,” Oakland coach Dennis Allen said. “The self-inflicted wounds, they are hard to come back from so we have to execute in that regard a lot better.”
Detroit has better backup quarterbacks, but in week 3 of the preseason is the one where we see more action from the starting players.
The betting lines have the Lions -2.5 favorites over the Raiders, despite the game is in Oakland. The game total is set at 44.
