NFL Week 7 Odds: Game Lines, Picks and Predictions

Week 7 of the NFL season has a number of intriguing games on the menu, highlighted by the heavyweight tilt between the undefeated Steelers and unbeaten Titans. There’s also Seahawks/Cardinals in a battle of diminutive star QBs and the game it replaced on Sunday Night due to COVID concerns, Buccaneers/Raiders, in a matchup between Antonio Brown’s newest team and the franchise he abandoned at the alter last year.

Rather than focusing on the best teams in the league, however, we’ll spend Week 7 betting against the worst. Let’s check Bovada for the latest odds and make our picks.

WEEK 7 NFL ODDS

BETTING AGAINST BAD TEAMS

Josh Allen’s MVP campaign went off the tracks over the past couple weeks, but there’s no reason to think the Bills can’t cover against the Jets, a sorry operation that has lost their first six games by an average of 18+ points. Buffalo (-10.5)

While it’s assumed Adam Gase will be the next coach fired after Dan Quinn and Bill O’Brien were finally canned, somehow Zac Taylor’s name never comes up despite recording all of three wins in his first 22 games with the Bengals. Now compare that with Kevin Stefanski, who has already led Cleveland to four wins in six games, with his only losses coming to Baltimore and Pittsburgh. Cleveland (-3.0)

Every week the Cowboys disappoint and then somehow have a soft game on their schedule the very next Sunday that we quickly talk ourselves into them winning. Well, not this week. Washington’s defensive front will have no trouble punishing Dallas’ injury-ravaged offensive line, and quarterback Kyle Allen should perform respectably against a Cowboys defense that could be on the verge of falling apart. Washington (+1.0)

JUSTIN HERBERT FAN CLUB

Longtime readers’ wallets will soon be padded significantly if they bet on Justin Herbert to win NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year at +1200. While Chargers coach Anthony Lynn continues to prove there’s no lead he can’t blow, we like evolutionary Dan Marino to light up a 1-5 Jaguars club that has losses against the Bengals, Texans and Lions over the past three weeks. Chargers (-7.5)

The Packers were embarrassed 38-10 by the Buccaneers on Sunday, and while their offense should have no trouble getting back on track against the Texans, it’s difficult to see how a Green Bay defense that ranks second-last in pressure is going to be able to contain Deshaun Watson, who has looked revitalized in the two games since BoB’s firing, scoring seven touchdowns with a 73.6 percent completion rate. (Texans +3.5)

In last week’s picks column, we pointed out that Sean McVay’s Rams still have yet to register a win outside the NFC East and that fact remains true today. As long as Khalil Mack is able to suit up on Monday night, we like the Bears to improve to a previously inconceivable 6-1 on the strength of a defense that is closer to its dominant 2018 form than last year’s version. Bears (+6.0)
