- The Atlanta Falcons (4-5) are 2.5-point road favorites over the Carolina Panthers (2-7)
- Arthur Smith’s team could move into first place in the NFC South with a Week 10 win
- Thursday Night Football on Prime Video kicks off from Bank of America Stadium on November 10 at 8:25pm ET
Yet again, the Thursday Night Football matchup is less than an ideal for Al Michaels and Amazon. However, if the game is half as entertaining as the Falcons’ 37-34 overtime victory over the Panthers a week ago, viewers will have nothing to complain about.
Atlanta lost a hard-fought battle with the Chargers in Week 9 to drop to 4-5. And Carolina was blown out 42-21 at home by Joe Mixon and the Bengals. They’re now 2-7 in a lost season in which they already fired their head coach and traded star running back Christian McCaffrey.

Rematch of Week 8 tilt
Atlanta was lucky to escape Week 8 with a 37-34 OT victory over Carolina. D.J. Moore received a questionable penalty for taking off his helmet while celebrating a miraculous 62-yard TD catch. Eddy Pineiro then missed the extra-point after 15 yards were added to his kick, costing his team the W.
That 62-yard would-be game-winning throw will likely stand as the career highlight for P.J. Walker. The former XFL star quarterback was benched in Sunday’s blowout loss to Cincinnati. Sam Darnold was also activated off injured reserve on Monday. Darnold, Baker Mayfield or Walker could all conceivably start on Thursday.

Falcons in contention
Sitting at 4-5, the Falcons are tied with the Buccaneers atop the NFC South following a 20-14 defeat to the Chargers. Atlanta pissed away a 10-point lead in Week 9 due to a number of turnovers. This cost the franchise a chance to move over .500 for the first time since 2017.
Marcus Mariota threw for only 129 yards on Sunday. However, the journeyman signal-caller passed for over 300 yards and three scores, with two interceptions, in the Week 8 triumph over the Panthers.
Falcons vs Panthers
Atlanta is favored by 2.5 points on the road in Carolina and the over-under is set at just 42.5. A far cry from the 71 points these clubs put up in Week 8. Look for Arthur Smith to pound the rock against the Panthers’ bottom-five run defense. Cordarrelle Patterson scored two TDs in his return from injury on Sunday. And rookie Tyler Allgeier ran for 99 yards on only 10 carries, adding a 24-yard receiving score.
Interim coach Steve Wilks will need to establish his own ground game early. D’Onta Foreman gashed Atlanta for 118 rushing yards and three touchdowns two weeks ago, but had just seven carries for 23 yards in Sunday’s loss to Cincinnati.

Best Bet
Thursday Night Football matchups traditionally favor the home team. But, the Falcons are the better coached team and have a chance to jump back into first place in the NFC South. Expect Arthur Smith to have his running game firing on all cylinders in what should be a relatively easy win.
Final Score Prediction: Atlanta 27, Panthers 14
