Week three of the preseason ensure the starting quarterbacks play a little more than usual; half of a game or perhaps a little more.
“Coach [Bill Belichick] always does a great job of trying to keep us in great condition, so we do a lot of running in practice, post-practice runs,” Patriots QB Tom Brady said.
“But you have to get out there and play, get your mind working, and get into the situations and concentrate for extended periods of time, and certainly we’re going to be asked to do four quarters of that in three weeks, so we’ve got to go out and see where we’re at and hopefully we’re in good enough condition to play a half. Hopefully, we’ll play a lot more than that, but it will be good to see where we’re at.”
The Panthers have a bigger issue as QB Cam Newton still is nursing his football after the surgery he had during the offseason. Newton played a quarter and a half in the 28-16 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs in week 2, going four of nine for 65 yards, and was sacked twice.
