The Oakland Raiders have responded to an Orange County Register report listing them among five NFL teams that have talked with Anschutz Entertainment Group and its CEO Tim Leiweke about a possible sale and relocation to a new stadium in Los Angeles.
“The team is not for sale. It will remain with the Davis family,” Raiders CEO Amy Trask said in a statement Friday, according to the Bay Area News Group.
The Raiders — along with the Jacksonville Jaguars, Minnesota Vikings, St. Louis Rams and San Diego Chargers — were mentioned by Leiweke as teams linked to a potential sale to billionaire Philip Anschutz.
Leiweke said Anschutz would like to acquire a majority stake in an NFL team and have them play at a proposed NFL stadium in downtown Los Angeles. Leiweke said AEG was willing to pay for a team to get out of its current lease.
