AFC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME

How about the balls on Andy Reid? On fourth-and-1 from his own 48-yard line with just 1:14 remaining in the game, he had backup quarterback Chad Henne throw a 5-yard pass to Tyreek Hill, clinching a 22-17 win over the Browns that became far too close for comfort after Patrick Mahomes left with a concussion in the third quarter.

Kansas City’s head coach said his star quarterback was “doing great” after the game, so while the 2019 Super Bowl MVP will likely be able to resume his title defense next Sunday against Buffalo, there’s a good chance his practice time will be limited due to the NFL’s concussion protocol.

The Chiefs (+210) will need Mahomes at his best to topple a red-hot Bills (+300) team headed to their first AFC Championship since 1993. Josh Allen and Stefon Diggs connected eight times for 106 yards and a score in the 17-3 victory over Baltimore, but the play of the game was on the defensive side of the ball, with Taron Johnson intercepting Lamar Jackson and running it back 101 yards for a touchdown.

Heading into the playoffs, Buffalo was one of our preferred plays at +700 to win the Super Bowl and they opened as only a 3-point road-underdog to Kansas City next Sunday.

NFC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME

While it’s easy to imagine Mahomes and Allen competing in multiple AFC championship games in the years to come, it’s almost hard to believe that Aaron Rodgers and Tom Brady have never played in the postseason. On the verge of winning his third-career NFL MVP, the Packers quarterback made all those lead-up puff pieces about Aaron Donald, Jalen Ramsey and the Rams defense look awfully silly in retrospect, throwing for 296 yards and 2 TDs in an easy 32-18 win on Saturday.

Rodgers will now welcome Brady to frigid Lambeau Field, where he will attempt to burnish his Hall of Fame resume by dethroning the six-time Super Bowl champion. Now favored to win the Super Bowl for the first time all season, Green Bay (+210) opened as 3.5-point home-favorites against Tampa despite suffering a 38-10 blow-out loss to the Bucs way back in Week 6.

Tampa Bay (+375) picked off Rodgers twice in their last meeting and Todd Bowles’ defense was every bit as dominant against Drew Brees on Sunday, intercepting the 42-year-old three times in his NFL swan song. Riding a six-game win streak, the Buccaneers’ last loss came in Week 12 against the Chiefs.

Only one game away from reaching his tenth-career Super Bowl, and first without Bill Belichick, Brady could add another incredible chapter to his unassailable legacy with a win over Rodgers next weekend.
