Which State is Most Likely to Win the Super Bowl?
If your allegiance runs more deep with your state than with your favorite NFL team, look no further than the winning state market. Bookmakers like Bovada and BetUS currently offer odds on the state of origin of the winning Super Bowl team. The favorite is “any other state,” not too surprising considering the geographical diversity of the league. But Maryland leads the pack of states contending for a Super Bowl with both the Baltimore Ravens and Washington Commanders.
Pennsylvania is close second at (+550), with the Philadelphia Eagles and Pittsburgh Steelers. NJ/NY and California are next on the list at (+625) and (+700). New Jersey and New York include the Giants, Jets and Bills, while California has the LA Chargers, Rams, and San Francisco 49ers. Florida (+1600), Ohio (+1800), and Texas (+2000) complete the available states to wager.
My personal pick would be California at 7:1 odds. The state sports three legitimate contenders, yet is only the fourth-highest favorite.
Super Bowl Props: Bet on the Winning Division
As for the division with the most likely chance of representing the Super Bowl winner, the NFC East (+425) takes the crown on two of our three featured sportsbooks. The Eagles do most of the heavy-lifting, but the Commanders also have a good chance. The AFC North has a claim to the top spot, though, as no bookmaker offers the division better than 4:1 odds.
Two other divisions are likely to deliver a Super Bowl winner. The AFC West (+450) and AFC East (+550) could easily prove to be valuable wagers if things go their way. After the NFC West (+700), it’s evident the two remaining divisions will likely have to wait another year to win a Super Bowl. The NFC South (+1700) and AFC South (+1800) aren’t doing their region any justice.
So is there anything worth betting on in this market? I see some value on the AFC West at (+450). That division includes the LA Chargers, reigning AFC Champions Kansas City Chiefs, and the up-and-coming Denver Broncos. Those are three 10+ win teams from 2024 who look like they will contend yet again.
Will there be a First-Time Super Bowl Winner in 2026?
Both BetOnline and BetUS offer a fun super bowl prop bet on a potential first-time winner. There are a dozen NFL teams who have never touched the Lombardi Trophy. That unlucky dozen consists of the Bengals, Bills, Browns, Cardinals. Chargers, Falcons, Jaguars, Lions, Panthers, Texans, Titans and Vikings. The Bills, Chargers, and Lions feel like the most likely to finally touch gold, as well as the Bengals with Joe Burrow back.
The line is set at (+165) against a first-time Super Bowl winner. The most recent team to win their first Super Bowl was the Philadelphia Eagles, who finally won in 2018. Interestingly, Philadelphia did win championships before the Super Bowl era. Before that, the Seattle Seahawks won their first Lombardi Trophy in 2014.
Other Super Bowl Prop Bets to Consider for 2026
The all-time conference battle between the AFC and NFC is razor close. With Philadelphia’s blowout victory last season, the NFC took the lead with 29 championships to the AFC’s 28. Traditionally, the NFC dominated the Super Bowl but dynasties from the New England Patriots and the Chiefs in the 21st century narrowed the gap.
This year, bookmakers are liking the chances of the AFC to tie things up again. The AFC is favored at (-125). While the NFC houses the defending champions, the AFC holds claim to the top two Super Bowl favorites and three of the top four. The Bills and Ravens are pegged by sportsbooks to vie for the AFC title in 2026.
Some sportsbooks also allow prospective bettors to speculate on the exact Super Bowl matchup. The top 3 matchups expected in the Super Bowl include the Eagles, with a matchup against the Bills the most likely, followed by the Ravens. A Super Bowl trilogy bout between Philadelphia and Kansas City is lined at (+2200).
