Updated Super Bowl Odds After Saints Embarrass the Bucs in Week 9

Tom Brady and the Buccaneers were supposed to be an offensive juggernaut after bringing in Antonio Brown to pair with Mike Evans, Chris Godwin and Rob Gronkowski. But after scoring just three points in an embarrassing 38-3 divisional loss against the Saints on Sunday night, it’s fair to question if Tampa Bay was ever a serious contender.

Let’s look at the latest Super Bowl odds and recap the Week 9 action.

SAINTS SOAR UP THE BOARD

Entering the week at +1400, New Orleans wasn’t getting a lot of respect from oddsmakers after losing to the Raiders and Packers in primetime and barely squeaking by the Lions, Chargers, Panthers and Bears in successive weeks.

Now at +700 following their manhandling of Tom Brady and the Bucs (+900), the 6-2 Saints will enjoy a relatively easy schedule until locking horns with the favored Chiefs (+350) in Week 15. Kansas City improved to 8-1 with a narrow 33-31 win over an impressive Panthers (+30000) team that looked much better than their 3-6 record would indicate.

The Bills (+2200) also scored a statement victory in Week 9, defeating the Seahawks (+1000) 44-34 and putting a serious dent in the MVP campaign of Russell Wilson, who was picked off twice and lost two fumbles.

Josh Allen recaptured his early-season magic, throwing for 415 yards and three touchdowns, leading Buffalo to a 7-2 start for the first time since 1993. Next up is a must-see Week 10 matchup with Arizona (+3300).

STEELERS REMAIN UNBEATEN

It wasn’t pretty, but Pittsburgh (+550) squeaked out a 24-19 win over the Cowboys to improve to 8-0. Ben Roethlisberger threw for 306 yards and three scores, but the offense looks anything but dynamic heading into the season’s second half.

The Ravens (+950) bounced back from their Week 8 loss to the Steelers with an ugly 24-10 victory over the Colts (+1000) where Lamar Jackson threw for just 170 yards and no touchdowns. Harkening back to the old Joe Flacco days, Baltimore’s defense again looks like the strength of the team. The question is whether their offense will be able to keep pace with some of the league’s better attacks come the postseason.

Rebounding from two-straight losses, Tennessee (+2800) defeated the Bears 24-17 and will now face the AFC South-rival Colts (+3300) in two of their next three games.

And don’t look now but the Vikings (+10000) are back in the playoff picture after post-bye victories over the Packers and Lions. Running like he’s being shot out of a cannon, Dalvin Cook has 225-plus scrimmage yards and two-plus rush touchdowns in consecutive games, joining only Deuce McAllister (2003) and Hall of Famer Jim Brown (1963) as the only other running backs since 1950 to accomplish that feat.
