Updated Super Bowl Odds After Week 14: Chiefs and Packers Hold First Round Byes

  • BetOnline lists the Chiefs (+180) as heavy Super Bowl chalk now that Kansas City has locked up a first-round playoff bye
  • Green Bay (+700) is the NFC favorite after a Saints (+800) loss moved the Packers to the No. 1 seed
  • The Bills (+1200) are a top-five contender for the Lombardi Trophy after impressive wins over the 49ers and Steelers in back-to-back primetime games

On an evening where Lamar Jackson set a new Monday Night Football record for rushing yards (124) by a quarterback and led his team on touchdown and field-goal drives in the final two minutes of a 47-42 win over the Browns, somehow the big question is whether he pooped or not.

Either way, the victory provided sweet relief for a Ravens club that was pushing for a postseason berth and now has a clear path to 11 victories with the Jaguars, Giants and Bengals on tap.

To help you make your wagers, we’ll look at the updated Super Bowl odds and discuss how the playoff picture is coming into focus in both the AFC and NFC.

CHIEFS AND PACKERS IN DRIVER’S SEAT

Consecutive Steelers‘ losses have lengthened Pittsburgh’s Super Bowl odds from +550 two weeks ago to +1200 today. The skid also means the 12-1 Chiefs can lose to the Saints this Sunday and still secure the AFC’s top seed and only playoff bye. As a results, oddsmakers have shortened Kansas City’s title odds to a season-low +180.

Green Bay‘s odds also ticked down to +700 after New Orleans’ surprising loss to Jalen Hurts and the Eagles (+20000). By virtue of its Week 3 victory over Sean Payton’s club, the Packers have the inside track for a bye and home-field advantage in the NFC with the Panthers, Titans and Bears on tap.

While claiming your division is always nice, the Rams and Seahawks might want to think twice about how badly they want to win their Week 16 game. The victor will emerge NFC West champions and likely host Tom Brady and the Buccaneers in the first round, while the loser will go on the road against the NFC East winner; a division currently held down by the 6-7 Washington Football Team (+6600).

BILLS EMERGE AS CONTENDERS

With an impressive 26-15 victory over the Steelers on Sunday Night, the Bills (+1200) won the AFC East for the first time in a quarter-century and announced themselves as legitimate Super Bowl contenders. Josh Allen’s incredible ascent from year two to year three will almost certainly land offensive coordinator Brian Daboll a head coaching job this offseason, and their defense has been steadily improving since their Week 11 bye.

At 10-3, Buffalo’s only concern is their first-round opponent will be no cupcake. While too early to forecast, it will likely be the AFC South squad — Titans (+2800) or Colts (+3300) — that doesn’t win the division or a dangerous Ravens (+2000) club that’s just now picking up steam.

Cleveland continues to get no respect from oddsmakers, but +4000 is a good value for a team that could finish 12-4. Say what you will about Baker Mayfield, but the Browns have one of the better play-callers in the league in Kevin Stefanski, a dominant offensive line and running attack with Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt, and a game-wrecking force in defensive end Myles Garrett.
