  • BetOnline lists the Chiefs (+200) and Packers (+450) as Super Bowl favorites after both teams secured first-round byes
  • Josh Allen’s ascendance has transformed the surging Bills (+700) into serious title contenders
  • The Seahawks (+1200) have won six of their past seven games thanks to a rejuvenated defense

Well, we made it. The NFL got in 256 games over 17 regular-season weeks without a Covid-related cancellation and now the postseason is set. With 14 franchises still in Super Bowl contention heading into Wild Card Weekend, we look at the latest Lombardi odds and preview the six playoff matchups.

Keep in mind that Kansas City and Green Bay have secured the sole playoff byes in the AFC and NFC and will host the lowest seed to advance past this weekend’s wild-card round.

WILD CARD WEEKEND

The Bills (+700) and Saints (+750) hold down the No. 2 seed in their respective conferences. Winners of nine of their past ten games and six straight, Buffalo will welcome Indianapolis (+3300) and red-hot rookie running back Jonathan Taylor to Ralph Wilson Stadium this Saturday. Meanwhile, New Orleans shouldn’t have much trouble with Mitch Trubisky’s Bears (+6600) on Sunday even though Alvin Kamara won’t be able to practice this week due to Covid protocols.

The fifth seed in the NFC, Tampa Bay (+1000) gets the benefit of facing a 7-9 Washington Football Team that holds the ignominious title of NFC East Champions after the Eagles purposefully tanked on Sunday night. However, don’t be surprised if Ron Rivera’s ferocious defense slows down a Buccaneers attack that has feasted on awful competition over the season’s final month.

MORE WILD CARD MATCHUPS

Finishing the season with five-straight wins, Baltimore (+1100) is officially “the team that no one wants to face,” but Lamar Jackson’s Ravens will have to exorcise some playoff demons against a Titans (+2500) squad that upset them in last year’s divisional round and also defeated them in Week 11 of this season.

After starting 11-0, the Steelers (+2200) have dropped four of five and will now host the same Browns team that beat them in Week 17. Ben Roethlisberger will be back in the lineup for this one, of course, but Cleveland (+4000) could ride their running back tandem of Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt to victory if Pittsburgh’s offense remains dormant.

Finally, Seattle (+1200) has won six of their past seven matchups thanks to their once-maligned defense, and no thanks to a passing attack that hasn’t let Russ cook since early November. The Seahawks will now host a Rams (+2800) club that will likely be without starting quarterback Jared Goff, who’s nursing a broken thumb. Sean McVay is 5-3 all-time against Pete Carroll, but even with a ferocious defense, Los Angeles could be in trouble with John Wolford under center.

If you’re looking for value, our preferred Super Bowl plays are the Bills and Seahawks, who have the quarterbacking and defense required to hoist a Lombardi this February.
