While one would think watching football all day would be the perfect way to unwind at the end of the week, NFL Sundays are actually quite stressful. After your morning coffee, you’ve got to look up the latest injury news, set your fantasy lineups, and check the latest game lines before laying down some wagers.
Then, you’ve got to sweat the results of every game over the course of 11 hours while over-eating and drinking. If you win your matchups and bets, the day can be viewed as a success. But if you lose… boy, it’s hard to get up on Monday sometimes.
Sound familiar? With the 2021 NFL Opening Weekend just a few days away, let’s take a look at the lines for Sunday’s afternoon football action and make our picks. Here’s also where you can get tips and advice on betting on NFL football games and Super Bowl futures.

Jaguars (-2.5) over Texans
Early returns on the Urban Meyer era in Jacksonville haven’t been great – but losing to this Texans roster would be a tragedy for any team. Surely, No. 1 overall pick Trevor Lawrence will find a way to put up points against Houston’s mediocre expansion-team roster. Can an offense led by Tyrod Taylor, Mark Ingram and Brandin Cooks really win a game in the year 2021?
49ers (-7.5) over Lions
While they’ll play hard under knee-biter Dan Campbell, the Lions will be overmatched by Kyle Shanahan’s offensive shenanigans in this one. Expect Jimmy Garoppolo to start and Trey Lance to make a few cameo appearances in a blowout win for San Francisco.

Patriots (-2.5) over Dolphins
It’s a battle of Alabama quarterbacks – but one team seems much more confident in its starter. Bill Belichick cut Cam Newton to pave the way for the Mac Jones to start while rumor mill whispers say the Dolphins are trying to replace Tua Tagovailoa with accused sex criminal Deshaun Watson. Regardless of which signal caller looks better, the Patriots are much better on both lines and will manhandle Miami in the trenches.
