The Philadelphia Eagles are trying to avoid injury talks and focus on the Cleveland Browns as their next step to get in shape for the season. The Eagles are +3.5 points underdogs in Cleveland, and the game total is set at 38 according to some sportsbooks.
Michael Vick and his inability to stay healthy is the subject everybody is talking about when the Eagles are mentioned. Coach Andy Reid didn’t want to talk about his starting quarterback health, but he did mention the scrambling QB will be ready to face… yeah… the Browns in week one.
Reid also said it will be Nick Foles who starts this Friday in Cleveland, but that Mike Vick will be ready for the start of the season.
“No. Really, in-season, you’d probably have him in there for the game. As I’m standing here today, unless I’m drastically changing something, I’m not going to play him (the rest of the preseason)”, said Reid about Vick.
“There is a fine line here because he has to continue to play the game. It’s a violent sport where you’re going to get injuries,” he said. “If you’re out there worried about that part of it, you’re not going to perform to the best of your ability. Then, you have to catch a break here or there. You have to catch a break in a positive way where you’re not absorbing the big hits.”
Cleveland won’t show everything either, but their main goal is to continue getting Brandon Weeden comfortable with the offense. Expect to see him at least two quarters.
