Adam Schefter dropped a bomb on the day of the NFL Draft, reporting on the growing tension between the Packers and Aaron Rodgers. Despite Green Bay falling just a few plays short of the Super Bowl, their franchise quarterback was not on board with management’s decision to draft Jordan Love in the first round last year and now there’s seemingly hell to pay.

Let’s see what team oddsmakers believe Rodgers will play next season, but first – here’s where you can find tips and advice for betting on NFL football games.

Packers favored to keep Rodgers

Green Bay is a -130 favorite to retain Rodgers simply because they have no incentive to trade him. With all reports suggesting that Love has a “long way to go” in his development, the Packers need the future Hall of Famer to have any chance at the Super Bowl. Trade offers for the 37-year-old would also include 2022 draft picks – which would not help the Cheeseheads this year.

However, Rodgers doesn’t look ready to kiss and makeup. He reportedly turned down more than $45 million per year, which would nearly double the $21.5 million he was set to make in 2021 and demanded that the Packers trade Love and fire general manager Brian Gutekunst. He’s also using his successful stint guest-hosting Jeopardy! as leverage.

Broncos whispers won’t go away

On the night of the NFL Draft, former player/Broncos radio personality Mark Schlereth tweeted that Rodgers to the Broncos was “close to a done deal.” While those rumors haven’t come true yet, oddsmakers certainly took them to heart. In addition to Denver’s odds at landing Rodgers being almost EVEN (+150), their odds to win the Super Bowl jumped from +10,000 in February to +2000 on Bovada as of today.

The Packers organization also had plenty of reason to wait before pulling the trigger as trading the star quarterback before June 1st would’ve resulted in a $38.35 million dead money cap charge. A post-June 1 trade, meanwhile, would reduce the added 2021 cap charge to $14.352 million, pushing the balance of $17.198 million to 2022.

Las Vegas (+750) also makes sense as a landing spot, given Rodgers’s reported interest in being closer to Hollywood and actress fiancee Shailene Woodley, and given Jon Gruden’s perpetual interest in replacing quarterback Derek Carr.

However, where there’s smoke, there’s fire. Bet on the Packers legend packing his bags for Denver (+150) after June 1st and Green Bay heading into an uncertain future with Jordan Love.
