2021 NFL Division Futures: Picks and Predictions in AFC

  • BetUS‘ updated NFL Division Futures offers odds for each AFC division
  • The Chiefs (-275) are favored in the AFC West, but could Aaron Rodgers be headed to Mile High?
  • Cleveland’s odds (+135) keep shortening and they will soon be favored in the AFC North

With the NFL Draft in the rear view mirror and the Super Bowl over eight months away, there’s not much for NFL fans to do in the offseason other than make speculative wagers and dream of future fantasy football championships.

Today, we’ll look at the latest odds to win each AFC division and make our picks and predictions in each one, starting with the AFC West. Before getting started, make sure to check out our tips for betting on NFL football games.

Odds to win AFC West

Kansas City Chiefs-275

Los Angeles Chargers+600
Las Vegas Raiders+1200

Will Broncos land Rodgers?

Betting on the favorites in Kansas City (-275) to win the AFC West depends on whether you think the Super Bowl hangover is real. Here’s what we can tell you: only eight times in 55 years has a team that lost the big game returned to play it again the next year. However, since 2010, Super Bowl bridesmaids have compiled a 110–66 collective record the season after, with eight of those 11 teams making the playoffs.

Perhaps a bigger obstacle for the Chiefs is quarterback Aaron Rodgers potentially landing on the Broncos. At +400, Denver doesn’t offer as much value as they used to, so we prefer a +600 wager on the Chargers, who have sophomore slinger Justin Herbert and a massive coach upgrade after going from Anthony Lynn to former Rams DC Brandon Staley.

Odds to win AFC East

BetUS
Buffalo Bills-150
Miami Dolphins+300
New England Patriots+325
New York Jets+1500

Can Patriots rebound?

The Buffalo Bills (-150) are in position to make their first Super Bowl appearance since they lost four of them in a row from 1991 to 94. To steal the AFC East, Miami (+300) would need Tua Tagovailoa to make an enormous leap in his second year – but the Dolphins did give him some new toys (Will Fuller and No. 6 overall pick Jaylen Waddle) to speed up his development.

Desperately doing damage control on his legacy, Bill Belichick overspent in free agency but despite their lack of offensive weapons, New England (+325) does have strong defense and offensive line. We like the Bills to claim the AFC East, but the Pats might have another surprise in them.

Odds to win AFC North

BetUS
Baltimore Ravens+125
Cleveland Browns+135
Pittsburgh Steelers+325
Cincinnati Bengals+1800

Down with the Browns

With the way things have been trending, expect Cleveland (+135) to soon be favored over the Ravens (+125) in the AFC North. The media is madly in love with the job GM Andrew Berry has done, stacking the Browns roster on both sides of the ball. But, we all know what happened the last time Baker Mayfield’s team received this much summer hype.

Pittsburgh (+325) and the decaying-before-our-eyes Ben Roethlisberger look headed for a last-place finish in the division, but Mike Tomlin has never finished worse than .500 in his 14-year career. The Bengals are an incredible value at +1800, which is hard to resist even when you realize that dim-witted Zac Taylor (6-25-1 in 2 seasons) is still running the show.

Odds to win AFC South

BetUS
Indianapolis Colts+100
Tennessee Titans+115
Jacksonville Jaguars+750
Houston Texans+1400

Jaguars ready to pounce?

Starting over with a new quarterback yet again, Indianapolis (+100) is a slight AFC South favorite over Tennessee (+115), who could be in the mix for Julio Jones after losing their No. 2 and No. 3 pass catching options in free agency. With the departure of Titans OC Arthur Smith, the Colts seem like a relatively safe bet to capture the division.

However, with a brand new coach (Urban Meyer), rookie QB (Trevor Lawrence) and Christian good-luck charm (Tim Tebow), Jacksonville (+750) could squeak it out if Carson Wentz washes out in Indianapolis.
