- BetOnline installed the Chiefs (+500) as Super Bowl 55 favorites
- Tom Brady will likely return to the Patriots (+900) despite rumors of the veteran QB landing with the Chargers (+2200) or Raiders (+4000)
- The Steelers (+2000) and Seahawks (+2500) are strong values heading into the offseason
After Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs became the first team in NFL history to win three games after trailing by ten or more points in a single postseason, it’s no surprise to see Kansas City open as favorites to win Super Bowl 55.
The bigger question is whether Kyle Shanahan’s San Francisco 49ers can return to the big game with a quarterback they attempted to hide throughout their playoff run.
Let’s look at the opening odds at Bet Online and throw out some speculative sleeper bets to win next season’s Lombardi trophy.
ODDS TO WIN SUPER BOWL 55
|Kansas City Chiefs||+500|
|San Francisco 49ers||+700|
|New England Patriots||+900|
|New Orleans Saints||+1600|
|Green Bay Packers||+1800|
|Los Angeles Chargers||+2200|
|Los Angeles Rams||+2500|
|Las Vegas Raiders||+4000|
|New York Giants||+6600|
|New York Jets||+6600|
|Tampa Bay Buccaneers||+6600|
Oddsmakers seem to believe Tom Brady will be back in New England next season, giving the Patriots a one-in-nine chance (+900) to extend their dynasty into the next decade.
The long odds for other rumored suitors, such as the Chargers (+2200) and Raiders (+4000), also show why it’s so unlikely that the six-time champion leaves town. Brady wants to add to his legacy and Bill Belichick obviously provides him with the best chance to win.
Not bad company to be a part of ?

With news that Drew Brees is exploring his options in the broadcast booth, you can get the Saints (+1600) at bargain-basement prices, especially if the 41-year-old were to return.
The Colts‘ odds (+3300) would also shorten if they’re able to bring in Philip Rivers and pair him with his former offensive coordinator Frank Reich. While the 38-year-old looked cooked with the Chargers last season, Indianapolis has the kind of offensive line that can rejuvenate careers.
POTENTIAL SLEEPER TEAMS
Given that Mike Tomlin finished 8-8 with Mason Rudolph and “Duck” Hodges behind center, the Steelers (+2000) should be contenders if Ben Roethlisberger successfully recovers from elbow surgery and loses the 50-to-100 pounds he packed on while injured.
With Defensive Player of the Year runner-up TJ Watt, last year’s first-round pick Devin Bush and Minkah Fitzpatrick (who they already spent this year’s first rounder on) wreaking havoc on all levels of their defense, Pittsburgh could emerge as the top challenger for Kansas City’s crown.

Looking down the board a bit further, it’s hard not to like Seattle at +2500, simply because Russell Wilson is one of the best quarterbacks in football.
In a division with a cap-crunched Rams team with a below-average QB and a crippled running back, and a 49ers squad who could very well suffer from the dreaded Super Bowl hangover, the perennially-underrated Seahawks are in a superb position to reach the postseason for the seventh time in the past eight seasons.
