With the victory, the Vikings moved to 6-7, while the Steelers fell to 6-6-1.

Chiefs vs Chargers

This is the second meeting between these two teams this season. The Chiefs and Chargers first faced off in Week 3 of the 2021 NFL season. Los Angeles won that game, which was a home game for the Chiefs, by a score of 30-24. Kansas City is 8-2 since that matchup. The Chargers are  6-4 since they defeated the Chiefs.

The Kansas City defense has come together during the team’s current six-game winning streak. The Chiefs have not given up more than 17 points in any of those wins and have surrendered just nine points in each of their three most recent outings. On the flip side, the Kansas City offense, with the exception of two blowout wins over Las Vegas, has cooled down and has not scored more than 22 points in four of its six most recent games.

The Los Angeles Chargers’ offense has been potent all season. The lowest total points the team has scored this season in a winning effort was the 20 points the team put up in Week 1. In its past three winning efforts, the Chargers have scored 37, 41 and 41 points.  However, the Los Angeles defense has struggled. The Chargers have given up an average of nearly 30 points per game in their past nine matchups.

This should be an exciting game with a lot of offense. Los Angeles quarterback Justin Herbert has the third-most passing yards in the NFL this season with 3,822. Kansas City QB, Patrick Mahomes is in the No. 4 spot in passing yards with 3,642.

I expect the Kansas City defense will do a better job of containing Herbert in this game than they did in the first meeting between these teams where Herbert went for 281 yards in the air and four touchdowns.

Thursday Night Football Best Bets

Pick Kansas City to win. The Kansas City defense is playing much better than the Los Angeles defense and I think that will be the difference in this game. Both teams will have success moving the ball, but the Chiefs have more weapons to stop the Chargers.

Pick Kansas City to cover. Kansas City is the hottest team in the NFL right now and they have covered the spread in four straight games. With the way the Chiefs’ offense has been playing and the struggles the Chargers are having on defense, I expect Kansas City to once again cover the spread.
