Bruins vs Hurricanes

After outscoring the Bruins 16-1 in three regular-season meetings, Carolina has taken a commanding lead of their best-of-seven series with consecutive 5-1 and 5-2 victories over Boston. While the series shifts to Beantown, the B’s will be missing deadline-acquisition Hampus Lindholm after the Swedish defender was run over by Alexander Svechnikov in Game 2. Bruce Cassidy will also have to find a way to generate offense against the Hurricanes, who allowed the least goals (202) in the entire NHL this season.

Final score prediction: Hurricanes 4, Bruins 3 OT

Lightning vs Maple Leafs

There was a lot of confidence in Leafs land following Toronto’s 5-0 shutout victory over the Lightning on Monday night. But, somewhat predictably, the two-time defending Stanley Cup champions rebounded in Game 2 with a dominant 5-3 win. Tampa Bay has now bounced back from 15 consecutive playoff losses and with the series moving to the Sunshine State, the Buds will have to be on their best behavior. Jon Cooper’s club scored three power-play goals on seven opportunities in Game 2 while the Leafs were 0-for-4 with the man advantage.

Blues vs Wild

Just like Leafs/Lightning, the Blues/Wild series seems poised to go seven games. After a decisive 4-0 triumph by the Blues in Game 1, Minnesota evened the score on Wednesday thanks to a hat-trick from Kirill Kaprizov and two goals from Joel Eriksson Ek. It was the first time the Wild defeated St. Louis in over a year and after six consecutive losses. Marc-Andre Fleury also made 32 saves in the 6-2 win to get his first postseason victory with his new team and the 91st of his career. Look for St. Louis’ veteran club to bounce back on Friday night in what will surely be the tightest game of the series so far.

Final score prediction: Blues 3, Wild 2

Kings vs Oilers

With a sordid history of regular season and playoff disappointments in the Connor McDavid – Leon Draisaitl era, you couldn’t blame Oilers fans for fearing the worst after their club dropped Game 1 to the Kings. However, the Northern Alberta city should be breathing much easier after a 6-0 victory over Los Angeles in Game 2. Moving forward, it likely all comes down to goaltending. If Mike Smith can deliver more performances like he did on Wednesday, the Oilers should have no trouble finishing off an inferior LA team in short order.

Final score prediction: Oilers 6, Kings 3
