Hurricanes vs Lightning
While Carolina and Tampa Bay are near the top of the Eastern Conference, both have struggled lately. The Hurricanes are mired in a four-game losing streak while Jon Cooper’s club is only playing .500 hockey over their last 10. Rod Brind’Amour’s boys have the third-best home mark (23-5-3) in the entire NHL and defeated the Lightning 2-1 in their last meeting in November, but the Bolts blasted the Canes 4-1 in last year’s second-round series. Tampa’s new deadline acquisition Brandon Hagel should also be making his debut.
Final score prediction: Lightning 3, Hurricanes 1

Penguins vs Blue Jackets
Pittsburgh beat the buzzer on Monday, acquiring Ducks forward Rickard Rakell for prospects and picks shortly before the 3pm ET trade deadline. While the 28-year-old winger won’t be available against Columbus, the red-hot Penguins likely don’t need him. Sidney Crosby’s franchise is 7-2-1 in their past 10 with a sterling 11-4-2 record against Metropolitan division opponents. The veteran club should also have a bounce in their step after GM Ron Hextall made the decision to go for one last Cup.
Final score prediction: Pittsburgh 5, Columbus 2
Devils vs Rangers
With Vezina frontrunner Igor Shesterkin manning the net, the Rangers could beat anyone come May. But that didn’t stop president and GM Chris Drury from adding depth at the deadline. New York acquired bottom-six forward Andrew Copp from Winnipeg and defenseman Justin Braun from the Flyers. Both should help the Blueshirts, who are a solid 7-3-0 in their past 10. Given that New Jersey has lost three straight, and is a miserable 13-19-3 in conference, this could be shaping up as a Shesterkin shutout.
Final score prediction: Rangers 4, Devils 0

Capitals vs Blues
The 2018 and 2019 Stanley Cup champions both stayed relatively quiet at the deadline, choosing not to add to their postseason-bound clubs. Washington is 7-2-1 in their past 10, but lost to Dallas on Sunday despite Alex Ovechkin’s exploits. The 36-year-old Russian tied Wayne Gretzky’s record with his 12th 40-goal season and now sits 124 goals back of the Great One. The Blues are 3-4-3 in their last 10 and a solid 14-11-5 on the road so we can expect a tight game here.
Final score prediction: Capitals 4, Blues 3
Jets vs Golden Knights
The Jets were sellers at the deadline while the Golden Knights are clinging perilously to the last playoff spot in the West. Considering that Winnipeg defeated Vegas 7-3 less than a week ago, Pete DeBoer’s club should come out hungry despite playing the second of a back-to-back on the road.
Final score prediction: Golden Knights 5, Jets 4 OT
