Geoff JohnsonThe Vancouver Canucks will try to keep rolling after a pretty good week as they visit Dallas to play against the Stars, this Sunday at the American Airlines Center at 3 PM ET.
Last week the Canucks ended the 23 win streak at home from the Detroit Red Wings, and walked right into New Jersey and stole a victory from the Devils a day later. Vancouver has won nine of the last 11, dropping their most recent game against Nashville also this past week.
“It’s nice that we’re the team that ended the streak,” said Canucks Alex Burrows, who lifted a backhand over Jimmy Howard when he went low. “It’s remarkable to win that many games in a row on home ice.”
“For us to come in here and play well and show that we can beat them means a lot,” Burrows said. “But there’s a lot of work ahead, and if we face them in the playoffs, it will start 0-0.”
Vancouver and Dallas will meet two times in less than 10 days; they will also meet again in March 22nd.
Dallas has been on and off over the last month, but they can’t afford to lose consistently; they need to find a winning rhythm if they want to grab the last spot of the Western conference playoffs.
“I think we were lucky to get out of the second [period]; Richard Bachman certainly kept us in it,” Stars coach Glen Gulutzan said about the game they won in Chicago. “Our leadership group took a stand between the second and third, and we got going.”
My pick: The Canucks are by far the best team between these two. Take them to win by at least two goals difference.
