NY Rangers breakdown
The Rangers were on a good run in late January through early February when they went on a seven-game winning streak. A four-game losing skid followed that run. However, the Rangers came out of that stretch on February 26 with a 5-2 win over the Los Angeles Kings and are currently 11-3-1 since.
Artemi Panarin leads the Rangers in scoring with 84 points. His 59 assists are also tops on the team. The Rangers’ leading goal scorer is Mika Zibanejad, who has put the puck in the net 38 times. He is second on the club in scoring with 81 points. Outside of Panarin and Zibanejad, New York has three other players with more than 20 goals, Chris Kreider (32), Filip Chytil (22), and Vincent Trocheck (20).
Igor Shesterkin has played well in net for the Rangers. He has a GAA of 2.54 and a save percentage of .914.
New Jersey Devils
The Devils are struggling at the wrong time of the 2023 NHL season. With the NHL playoffs on the horizon, the Devils have yet to win two games in a row since they put together a three-game winning streak between March 9 and 12. Over the team’s past eight outings they have a 2-4-2 record and have allowed four or more goals in five of those games.
Jack Hughes leads the Devils in scoring this year with 86 points. His 40 goals are also tops on the club. The Devils have two players with 30 or more goals in Jesper Bratt (31) and Nico Hischier (30). Only one other player on the club has 20 or more goals, and that player is Dawson Mercer with 23.
Vitek Vanecek has a 2.50 goals against average for the Devils to go with a .909 save percentage.
Best bet for NY Rangers vs. New Jersey Devils
Tonight marks the fourth meeting between the Rangers and Devils for the 2023 NHL season. New Jersey has two wins on the season series 5-3 and 4-3. The Rangers’ win came in December when they won 4-3. New York are playing very well right now. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said of the Devils. With that, there is value in picking the Rangers to even their season series with the Devils tonight in New Jersey.
