One game, winner takes all. Game 7 between the Detroit Red Wings and Chicago Blackhawks is this Wednesday at 8 PM ET at United Center, whoever wins gets a spot in the Western conference finals.
The Blackhawks won two in a row to force game 7 including a 4-3 win in game 6. “We’re doing the right things to score goals, and we’re confident when we get those chances that they’re going to go in somehow,” Chicago captain Jonathan Toews said. “We’ve got that momentum, we want to keep it.”
Momentum is definitely on Chicago’s side; they have been playing with an elimination aura for the last two matches, and they came through.
“If I would’ve told Detroit and Michigan we would play in Chicago in Game 7, I think everybody would be excited about that,” Red Wings coach Mike Babcock said. “I love Game 7s.
“We’ve got a chance to push them out of the playoffs. It should be a lot of fun.”
Chicago is 5-0 when they score on a power play this postseason and Detroit is 2-6 when it allows a power-play goal.
The NHL betting lines have the Blackhawks as huge favorites to win and advance listed -215 in the money line, and the upset by the Red Wings +195.
Chicago has won seven of the last ten with an average of 2.8 goals per game in those matchups; on the contrary, Detroit averages 1.9 in the series with huge problems to find the net.
