NHL Lockout – League and Players Maintain Their Distance

There is nothing about the NHL, in fact, there is nothing but sad news as the National Hockey League and the players haven’t been able to reach an agreement and the league has cancelled 135 games to this point.

NHL Lockout – League and Players Maintain Their DistanceThis week the league announced there will not be games on November 1st when the season supposed to be back, which means for the record, the second round of game cancellations since the lockout went into effect Sept. 19.

“As expected,” New York Rangers goalie Martin Biron said. “We continue to work hard to find an agreement and get back to playing hockey”.

“We are disappointed that the NHL has canceled more games as a result of the owners’ lockout,” said former player Mathieu Schneider, and the NHLPA special assistant to the executive director. “The players made another major move in the negotiations this week in an effort to end the lockout, by presenting the owners with a proposal that gets to a 50-50 split of revenues.

“In return, we expect that owners will honor the current contracts they have already signed, which everyone knows is fair”.

According to several sources, there will be a lot more games cancelled in the near future, but there is a word on a street that the matches are technically postponed, and there still remains the possibility of the league playing an 82-game regular season.

The next milestone for this NHL lockout will be the annulment of New Year’s Day Winter Classic, which should be play by the Detroit Red Wings and Toronto Maple Leafs in the outdoor at Michigan Stadium.
