Rangers Have Arrived
After posting more losses than wins in three of the past four seasons, the New York Rangers look to have turned the corner during the current campaign. Sporting odds as long as +3000 on opening night, the Rangers have changing the minds of many skeptics while racking up an impressive 16-4-3 record that has left them just three points shy of top spot in the Eastern Conference standings. New York has also made considerable on the NHL futures during their hot start, and now sit just shy of the favorites, rocketing to a short +1100 bet at BetOnline.

The Rangers have powered their resurgence with strong play at both ends of the ice. Igor Shesterkin has earned Vezina Trophy consideration while anchoring a goaltending duo that ranks fifth in the NHL. The club has also averaged a healthy 3.55 goals per game during an epic 10-1-0 run that began November 8, with veteran Chris Kreider leading the way with 16 goals through his first 23 outings.
Flames, Wild Silencing Naysayers
However, the Rangers are not the only team enjoying a meteoric rise at the sportsbooks. Both the Minnesota Wild and Calgary Flames have seen their stock climb following fast starts to the season. Now pegged as a +1200 wager in Stanley Cup betting at Bovada, Minnesota opened the season sporting odds as long as +2800. The Flames opened their schedule at a distant +4000 after finishing outside of the playoff picture last season, but a march to the top of the Western Conference standings has vaulted them to +1500.

The Wild have built nicely off of their success during the abbreviated 2021 campaign, in which they racked up an impressive 35-16-5 record. The first team in the West to reach 10 home wins, the Wild also trail only the Avalanche and Panthers in goals scored per game, and have run up a 7-1-1 record against Eastern Conference opponents.
After a shaky first season with the Calgary Flames, Jacob Markstrom is proving to be the elite goaltender they were looking for in Year 2. If the season were to end today, the 31-year-old would very likely be a Vezina Trophy candidate, as he currentlyhttps://t.co/dkw1S10UGX

Backed by the stellar play of veteran goaltender Jacob Markstrom, the Flames attack has lived up to its billing this time around, scoring four or more goals in 12 of their first 25 contests. However, Calgary still has work to do to overcome a sloppy start on home ice, where they club has earned the win in just four of their first nine contests.
Panthers, Avs Have Company at the Top of the Odds
As discussed, the Panthers and Avalanche remain the darlings of the sportsbooks. Indeed, Florida has managed to overtake the Avalanche as +600 chalk during a torrid 17-4-3 start. However, Colorado has managed to maintain its perch atop the odds at BetOnline and MyBookie despite enduring a rash of injuries that have contributed top a relatively middling 13-7-2 start.

However, the favourites now find themselves with plenty of company at the top of the odds board. The Toronto Maple Leafs have looked determined to put yet another playoff disappointment behind them while racking up 17 wins through 26 games. The Leafs have clearly established themselves as a threat to end a 54-year Stanley Cup drought, and sport odds as short +750 bet. But they must find a way to win their first playoff series in 18 years.

Of course, sports bettors overlook the Tampa Bay Lightning at their peril. The two-time defending Stanley Cup champions remain lurking in the weeds in third place in the Atlantic Division standings, and are once again without injured superstar Nikita Kucherov. Accordingly, they offer some of the best value in NHL futures betting as a +900 wager at MyBookie to become the first team to win three straight Stanley Cup titles since the New York islanders won four in a row in the early 1980s.
