NHL Betting: Devils vs Flyers Game 2

After an exciting game one, the Philadelphia Flyers and the New Jersey Devils will clash again this Tuesday at 7:30 PM ET, at Wells Fargo Center.

It might sound ridiculous after scoring four goals, but Philadelphia’s top power offense was largely stopped by a great goalkeeping by veteran Marty Brodeaur.  at the end, it came down to Danny Briere’s goal in overtime.

“He has his ups and downs, but he just picks it up in the playoffs. And that’s what matters,” Flyers coach Peter Laviolette said about Briere. “He’s a guy who consistently gets it done.”

Briere is clutch in the postseason; his 106 points in 104 career postseason games say so. “Is it pressure? I think it’s fun,” he said of playoff hockey. “When I have the opportunity, like I’ve had the past few years here, I try to take advantage of the opportunities.”

The Devils had a game plan ready to stop the Flyers flying offense, but is hard to stay close with such a speedy team with so many weapons on offense. “I thought we played real well in the first,” New Jersey coach Peter DeBoer said. “We just couldn’t keep it up.”

If we came in and lost 6-0, maybe we’d talk about adjustments,” said Devils captain Zach Parise. “We were right there. We had just as good a chance to win the game as they did.”

The Flyers have won the last two games in the series; Philadelphia is third highest scoring team in the league at 3.2 goals per game; however, they allow the most power plays at 3.9 per game, and New Jersey leads the league in power play goals allowed with 0.3 per game.
