- WHAT: Women’s Olympic Gold Medal Curling Tournament
- WHEN: Thursday, February 12th, 2026 – Tuesday, February 22nd, 2026
- WHERE: Cortina Olympic Stadium, Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy
After capturing back-to-back World Championships in 2024 and ’25, Canada seeks redemption after falling short of the podium at the 2022 Beijing Games. Oddsmakers believe they’ll end up on top of the medal stand. The Canucks are favored at -190 to capture gold.
The most serious challenger is Switzerland. Silvana Tirinzoni leads the team as skip and has guided Switzerland to four consecutive World Championships (2019-23). They recently finished with a bronze medal at the 2025 European Championships. In what will likely be Tirinzoni’s final Olympic appearance
China, South Korea, and Italy round out the contenders. China comes into this tournament fresh off a bronze medal at the 2025 World Championships. Tabitha Peterson and Team USA are the longshot, despite the championship experience.

Canada
Can skip Rachel Homan end this gold medal drought for Canada? They are seeking their first women’s Olympic curling gold medal since the 2014 Sochi Games. Homan wants redemption after the Canadiens failed to medal at the 2022 Beijing Games.
Homan and the Canadiens have had mixed results in the past year. They stumbled at the Canadien Open and lost in the quarterfinals. They followed that disappointment with a loss in the semifinals of the Player’s Championship.
Despite recent hurdles, Homan and the Canadiens defeated Switzerland to win the 2025 World Championships last March. They remain the most skilled team in the group. If they play to their potential, they should win gold.

Will they be able to hold off the competition? Will Homan lead Canada back to the gold medal? Any slip in concentration could open the door for a veteran team like Switzerland.
I believe Canada ends their drought, I’d take them to win gold in this one.
Switzerland
The Swiss are led by skip Silvana Tirinzoni. At 46, she faces her last realistic opportunity to capture Olympic gold. The Swiss have struggled to match Canada’s intensity of late. Their only loss in the 2025 World Championship was to Canada.
Following a second-place finish at the ’25 World Championship, the Swiss delivered a bronze at the 2025 European Championships.

Could the emotional factor of Tirinzoni’s farewell tour motivate her teammates? The Swiss are being priced at +240 which feels like a good price, but I’d pass on them in favor of some other contenders.
Sweden
Sweden triumphed at the 2018 PyeongChang Games, winning gold. Despite not dominating major tournaments such as the Canada Cup or the Swiss Cup, they captured silver at the 2025 European Curling Championships.
Sweden’s draw is very favorable. They can be a spoiler if they can execute through the round-robin and playoffs. They match up well against both Canada and Switzerland. However, they’ve struggled with consistency against elite competition.

The Swedes excel at controlling the pace of games and forcing errors. At +800, you’re getting excellent value here. It’s a bit ambitious, but Sweden has a better chance of winning gold than those odds indicate. This value is too good to pass up, I’d take Sweden to win gold.
South Korea
South Korea heads into the Winter Games fresh off a semifinal appearance at the 2025 World Championships. They even defeated Canada during round-robin play before losing in the semifinals.
In their narrow loss to Canada, they demonstrated their full potential. They showed how close they are to contention. The Canadians’ experience in critical moments set them apart from South Korea.
The European powerhouses, Switzerland, Sweden, and Italy, can overwhelm South Korea. They’ve struggled to maintain consistent performances. The team’s youth makes it challenging to maintain focus through a two-week tournament. I’d have to pass on South Korea at this price as well.
Italy
Hosting the Winter Games qualified the Italian team for this tournament. They do have the advantage of playing on home ice. However, they face steep odds against the established curling powerhouses.
They lack the depth and experience of a team like Canada or Switzerland. Italy’s curling program remains in the early stages compared to its European neighbors.

The team should focus on competing in the matches rather than on winning the gold medal. If they deliver a strong showing and win a few matches, it would be a success.
If they perform well, it could boost domestic interest and future funding. Long-term program building matters more than a podium finish in 2026.
This one would be nothing more than a lotto ticket, because I don’t expect Italy to shock the curling world.
