On Monday, Europe’s best football clubs found out who they’ll face in the round-of-16 draw. While the action doesn’t begin until mid-February, we have updated odds on what teams are favored to win the UEFA Champions League in the new year.
Let’s review the odds for all 16 teams and preview the eight matchups.

BAYERN MUNICH FAVORED
Reigning champions Bayern Munich (+275) are favored to emerge victorious from the Champions League final in Istanbul after a dominant Group A performance where they scored 18 goals in six games. First, they’ll have to get past Lazio (+8000), who were unbeaten in the group phase and qualified for the knockout stages for the first time in 20 years.
Manchester City (+400) received a favorable draw against Borussia Monchengladbach (+10000), a club that’s harder to pronounce than it is to beat, but they have yet to make it past the quarterfinals under boss Pep Guardiola.

Liverpool (+600) has an intriguing round-of-16 matchup that will see manager Jurgen Klopp return to Germany to face RB Leipzig (+3300). Leipzig conceded 12 goals in six group games, but they’re a dangerous opponent who notched impressive group-stage victories over both Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain (+1200).
Speaking of PSG, they face Barcelona (+1800) in a heavyweight battle between Lionel Messi and Neymar, two players whose futures with their clubs seem increasingly uncertain. Barça has won their past 13 round-of-16 games but will be underdogs in this epic tie that will likely cost the losing coach their job.
RONALDO RETURNS TO PORTUGAL
Turning 36 in February, Cristiano Ronaldo is at an age where many consider Major League Soccer, so this is more than likely his last chance to win a Champions League with Juventus (+1200). The superstar will get to return to his home country in Portugal to face a Porto (+15000) club with the longest odds on the board.
Having won the Premier League as teammates, Marcos Alonso and Diego Costa will now go head-to-head in the round-of-16 when Chelsea (+1600) faces Atletico Madrid (+1800). Costa has been battling injuries all year and will need to be healthy alongside teammate Luis Suarez if the Blues are to defeat Alonso and Portuguese sensation Joao Felix.

It’s strange that Borussia Dortmund (+2000) has better odds to win the Champions League than their opponents from Sevilla (+4000) considering they just sacked their coach, but oddsmakers seem to favor the emerging stars in Dortmund over last season’s Europa League champions.
Real Madrid (+1400) will try to avoid being eliminated in the round-of-16 for the third-straight year when they face an Atalanta (+4000) squad that has been nothing if not unpredictable in Champions League action this year. Faced with his fair share of criticism lately, coach Zinedine Zidane will hope his club maintains momentum after a big victory in the Madrid derby on Saturday night.
