2026 MLS Futures Betting Odds

Inter Miami are priced at odds of 4/1 to retain the MLS Cup with LAFC not too far behind at (+550). The Vancouver Whitecaps are next in line at (+900) before the gap in the pack opens up. San Diego FC, Cincinnati, Philadelphia, Columbus, LA Galaxy, New York City and the Seattle Sounders all boast odds shorter than 20:1, making this year more competitive compared to recent seasons. Whether it’s salary cap parity, roster turnover, or improving youth academies, top online sportsbooks believe the Cup is truly up for grabs in 2026.

Will Inter Miami Repeat MLS Cup Triumph?

Leo Messi and Inter Miami finally won the MLS Cup on their third attempt together in 2025. The Herons dispatched Vancouver 3-1 on home soil to win the club’s first-ever MLS Cup and third-ever trophy, along with their Leagues Cup victory in 2023 and Supporter’s Shield in 2024. It was a well-deserved championship for the hosts, who dominated playoff proceedings even without Luis Suarez for parts of the run.

But a lot will have changed come opening kickoff. Inter Miami sent their well wishes to Sergio Busquets who retired after the season, a move that opened up a Designed Player slot. Additionally, goalkeepers William Yarbrough and Rocco Rios Novo left along with defender Marcelo Weigandt. David Beckham’s franchise responded accordingly, signing German Berterame for about $15 million in the second-most expensive transfer in club history. Inter Miami also made Rodrigo De Paul’s loan permanent and extended Luis Suarez’s deal through 2026.

It also feels like a miracle that Inter Miami stays within the guidelines of the MLS’s stringent salary cap, yet the club pulls it off every year. Only adding to the mystery is a lack of public information regarding the financial details of players, a rarity in North American sports.

Just like every year, I must commend Inter Miami on their shrewd offseason moves while still heeding caution. Inter Miami has only pulled off the MLS Cup once so far and failed miserably last year, getting bounced in the first round of the playoffs at the hands of Atlanta United. The MLS is an inherently competitive division and expecting this side to cover their price tag is asking a lot. I will be looking to fade the ever-overvalued Herons throughout the season.

Don’t Overlook the Philadelphia Union in 2026

Speaking of fading Inter Miami, the Philadelphia Union boasted the league’s top record last season as they won the Supporter’s Shield. However, a shock defeat at the hands of New York City ended their MLS Cup campaign. Still under the care of South African manager Bradley Carnell and with the majority of their squad back in blue in 2026, Philadelphia should be confident in their chances of repeating last term’s success.

Concerns may arise regarding the departures of Tai Baribo and Kai Wagner, two key members of the Union in 2025. Tai, the Union’s top scorer and All-Star MVP, was sold to DC United for at least $4 million. Kai departs for greener grass in England with a transfer to Birmingham rumored for around $2.5 million. Those are not negligible numbers for an MLS team, so perhaps the new cash flow will be put to good use. However, Philadelphia is loaded with young talent and may elect to put their academy products on display before looking elsewhere.

Despite claiming the Eastern Conference with a few games in hand in 2025, Philadelphia is a shocking 7/1 to do it again in 2026. I think this price is very misguided, as the Eastern Conference odds tend to be since the introduction of Messi. My projections have the Union finishing at 68 points, well ahead of Inter Miami’s projected 62 points. Take Philadelphia to repeat in the East, but keep in mind where you place your bets: we only want to back this side in the regular season, where variance is less of a factor. Bovada offers +700 in the regular season market, so I will recommend that.

MLS Futures: Other Dark Horses to Consider Betting

It wouldn’t be a fun MLS futures article without mentioning some longshots. Nashville is a team that caught my eye on first glance of the futures markets. The club has looked much improved since hiring former USMNT interim manager BJ Callaghan as head coach in the summer of 2024. After a strong sixth-placed finish in 2025, I am ready to back them to continue their upward trajectory this season.

The Coyotes lost only three times at home last year, a record only bested by Philadelphia and the Seattle Sounders across the entire league. Nashville is (+1400) to win the Eastern Conference but my numbers indicate they should finish with 63 points, putting them actually above Inter Miami. I think this might be a little inflated considering the additions of Inter Miami in the offseason, but I still believe there is value here. If I were to price this fairly, I’d say Nashville should be at least (+800) to win the East if not closer to (+600), so there is plenty of meat still on the bone.

Should You Bet On Vancouver to Win the MLS Cup?

Finally, I would be remiss not to mention the Whitecaps. Last year’s runners-up gave up an unlucky own goal in the first ten minutes of their match with Inter Miami, spelling their ultimate demise. But a valiant loss to the Herons on the road still commands respect.

My projections have Vancouver only 1 point behind LAFC in the West at 70 points, and yet it was Vancouver who showed more poise in the playoffs in 2025. I think they have the veteran countenance and vengeful motivation to return to the MLS Cup final. The club has kept most of its key contributors together, including Thomas Muller, from what was their best season in their franchise’s history. I think (+900) is too high, but I’m not a big fan of betting futures that involve playoffs. If you feel like taking a stab, I don’t think you can go too wrong with Vancouver at this number.
