West Brom (+550) vs. Manchester City (-222) (Draw +350)
This Friday, Manchester City will meet West Brom at Hawthorns Stadium (10:00 a.m. Eastern). The Sky Blues will take the field looking to extend their unbeaten streak to nine and gain ground on BPL leading-Chelsea.
In the moneyline, City are the favorite to win, sitting at -222 in the odds. Meanwhile, a West Brom win will pay +550 and the draw +350.
Manchester City are second in the table with 39 points (12-3-2) and a +22 goal difference.
Man City manager Manuel Pellegrini is satisfied with his team’s recent performance, which includes zero losses in the month of December.
“I did think December is a key month to be in the fight for the title, and if you want to be involved, you must be very near the top of the table. I hope we continue playing like this,” said Pellegrini.
On the other side of the pitch, West Brom are 15th in the standings with 17 points (4-5-8) and a -6 differential; making matters worse, the Baggies have been trending down. In their last six, West Brom are just 1-1-4. Last game, they gave up a two goal lead to fellow cellar-dwellers QPR and wound up losing 3-2.
The loss left manager Alan Irvine searching for answers.
“We deserved to win the game and the fact that we didn’t was down to us not defending well at three corners and not being clinical,” said Irvine. “It’s bitterly disappointing to leave with nothing as I would have been disappointed with just a point.”
City have won five of their last seven games on Boxing Day (Dec. 26) and drew another. West Brom have won just one of their eight BPL matches on the day after Christmas, and tied two more (1-2-5). However the win and the two draws came in the three most recent games.
