ochoaA chance to get the second spot is set for both Croatia and Mexico as they meet this Monday at the Arena Pernambuco, in Recife at 6 PM ET, for group A of the Brazil 2014 World Cup.

Croatia has three points after two presentations, but they are one robbed penalty away from having four and putting Brazil in danger at the same time.  Their last game was a 4-0 victory over Cameroon without much problem.

The Croatians were so much better than the Africans, and scoring four goals helped the team’s confidence after they lost the opener 3-1 against Brazil.

The Europeans have tremendous talent upfront, and if they manage to get midfield Luka Modric some space to organize, then the Mexicans can be in danger.

For the Mexicans is about not losing; after beating Cameroon 1-0 and drawing scoreless against Brazil, Mexico is in a position where two of  the three possible results favors them (draw and win).

Mexico’s best player in the World Cup has been Guillermo ‘Memo’ Ochoa, the goalkeeper who saved anything on his way to rescue one point against Brazil.  However, the Aztecs lack of scoring chances could be a problem against a team as dangerous as Croatia.

Croatia and Mexico met in the 2002 World Cup, and the North Americans won 1-0 and advanced to the next stage.

For this matchup, the World Cup odds have the Croatians +160 to win while the Mexicans are +200.
