Leicester City (+120) at Sunderland (+235), Draw (+215)
Leicester City should have a walk in the park this Sunday when they visit the Stadium of Light to face bottom-feeding Sunderland in the EPL’s 33rd fixture (8:30 AM Eastern).
Leicester are close to pulling off one of the most historic upsets in Premier League history. When the season started, everyone thought they’d be in the relegation hunt at this stage of the year, not leading the league by seven points. But thanks to a 1-0 over Southampton last week, coupled with a Tottenham draw against Liverpool, the Foxes are now a full seven clear of the second-place Spurs.
The win over the Saints was the fourth straight for Leicester, who also downed Watford, Newcastle, and Crystal Palace (all 1-0) in their last quartet.
Sunderland are giving it their best effort to stay in the EPL for next season, though they’d find themselves relegated if the season ended today. They’ve managed four draws in a row, but haven’t taken the full three points in five straight. With just 27 points through 31 games, they’re four back of Norwich City for 17th in the table.
If they do get relegated, the Black Cats can blame their terrible performance at home; they’ve won just four of 15 home games on the year and are under .500 at the Stadium of Light (4-5-6).
Given that they’re now facing the EPL’s best road team (Leicester are 10-4-2 away) don’t expect things to turn around for Sunderland this weekend.
Pick: Leicester (+120).
