While the Champions League Final will be contested by two English teams for only the third time in history, Villarreal prevented another clash of Premier League clubs in the Europa League Final with a 2-1 aggregate victory over Arsenal last week.
The Spanish team will make its first ever appearance in tournament’s championship game against Manchester United, who won the Europa League in 2017 and advanced to this year’s final with a 8-5 aggregate triumph over Roma.

Villarreal vs. Manchester United

After dispatching of his former employers in Arsenal in the semifinal, Villarreal boss Unai Emery is aiming for his fourth Europa League title. He won three straight with Sevilla and then took Arsenal to the final two years ago.

Manchester United (-132), the betting favorite to bring the trophy back to Old Trafford, are in the midst of playing an unheard of four matches in eight days, but don’t expect conditioning to be an issue on Wednesday, May 26. Needing only four points from their last five matches to confirm their Champions League place, Solskjaer said he plans to field under-strength teams in those games and it is “not his problem” if his lineup decisions impact the battle for Champions League places.
The Red Devils are facing Villarreal for only the fifth time in history, and strangely enough, all four of their past meetings ended in a 0-0 draw. Going back to the Round of 32, Villarreal has held opposing teams scoreless in five of eight Europa Cup contests. If that’s not incentive to take the UNDER on 2.5 goals, we don’t know what is.
