Hull City (+500) at Arsenal (-187), Draw (+300)
Arsenal, who haven’t lost an FA Cup game in well over two years, will try to extend their tournament win streak to 15 games when they host Hull City in fifth round play this Saturday at the Emirates (7:45 AM Eastern).
Arsenal have won back-to-back titles and, with another crown this year, would become the first team to three-peat since Blackburn all the way back in 1886.
The team’s attention may be pulled in other directions, though. Not only are the Gunners just two back of Leicester at the top of the EPL table – thanks to a 2-1 win over the Foxes last weekend – but they’re also slated to face Barcelona in the Champions League next Tuesday.
Hull City lead the League Championship – the second tier of English club football – with 60 points through 31 matches; they also have a league-best +28 goal differential.
They head into this weekend’s game with six wins in the last eight, all competitions (6-1-1).
Manager Steve Bruce recognizes that his team is a heavy underdog, but isn’t about to concede to the well-moneyed Gunners.
“There’s no reason why we can’t [beat Arsenal]. … We looked fresh, fit and healthy [against Blackburn last weekend]. … We’re a team that’s pushing for promotion and when they’re focused on what’s [at] hand, we’ve produced arguably our best performance, especially away from home,” said Bruce to the Dailymail.
But Bruce and his Tigers haven’t had much success when facing the Gunners recently, losing two straight and nine of the last 11. That includes a soul-crushing 3-2 loss in the 2014 FA Cup final, where Hull blew a 2-0 lead. Hull’s last win over Arsenal came all the way back in 2008. Their fans will have to keep waiting for the next one.
Pick: Arsenal (-187).
