The Argentine star typically rests at least once in a period of schedule congestion, as evidenced by his absence from the MLS All-Star Game. His status will be worth keeping an eye on as the weekend nears.
Inter Miami has undergone some key roster changes this summer. Rodrigo de Paul arrives from Atletico Madrid with a fresh new haircut to match his new teammates. Inter Miami is the odds-on favorite to win on Saturday at Audi Field and for good reason. A full-strength Inter Miami lineup is good enough to beat any MLS team anywhere. I think the line is justified, but I hesitate to back the club despite how poor DC United have been this summer.
That’s because Inter Miami will be quite fatigued after a pivotal quarterfinal match with Tigres UANL on Wednesday. Leo Messi and others could skip Saturday’s match. Instead, my betting eyes turn towards the total. DC United’s home offense is amongst the worst in the league, but their home defense isn’t terrible. And with Inter Miami on tired legs, I could see a more sluggish affair than usual.
Inter Miami have patented the 6-goal slugoffs, but pitch their fair share of shutouts too. I think the total is too high even at full-strength, so I really like taking the under with the possibility of Inter Miami playing shorthanded. Any lack of Messi, de Paul, Alba, Suarez, Busquets and others should result in a decrease in scoring chances. At plus money or better, I recommend the under 3 goals.
