Will Tottenham Get the “New Manager Bounce?”
Thomas Frank’s reign at Tottenham was a short one by most manager’s standards. The former Brentford boss lasted just eight months and did not produce fruitful results. Only his Champions League record is worth boasting about, as the Lilywhites finished 5th in the league phase and clinched automatic qualification to the Round of 16. Their domestic form looked the opposite: just two home wins and 5 points away from the relegation zone.

The Croatian replaces the Dane in the interim, signing on for at least the rest of this season at Tottenham. Tudor has no honors to his name as a head coach but he did enjoy positive spells at Marseille and Lazio. The decision to switch was a costly one for Spurs: Frank pocketed almost $11 million in the payout of the rest of his contract.
It wasn’t all doom and gloom at Tottenham, as the club rattled off four games unbeaten before losses to Man United and Newcastle preceded Frank’s departure. Spurs will have 12 days to rest and recover in anticipation of this critical match with Arsenal, with no need to travel between the two home games scheduled. It’s a much-needed break for Tottenham who have dealt with significant injuries throughout this campaign.
Can Arsenal Clinch the Title?
It’s been a glorious year for Gunners supporters as Arsenal remains alive in every competition they’re in. Indeed, a “quad” is possible with Arsenal into the League Cup final against Man City, the same side they fight for the lead in the Premier League. Arsenal is still in the hunt for the FA Cup and the Champions League as well. Manager Mikel Arteta has his work cut for him with such a congested schedule. The Spaniard will likely introduce a heavily-rotated lineup for their tie with Wigan. Marli Salmon may make an appearance as well as Myles Lewis-Skelly. Decisions have already been made for Arteta regarding Mikel Merino and Kai Havertz, the two being out with injury. But in what feels like a must-win rivalry game, I am willing to look past my doubts. Even if Tottenham play just as bad as they have under Frank, they should still cover this spread.
I’ll take the full goal Asian handicap for Tottenham in a cagey rivalry match. That spread is far too wide considering Arsenal’s busy schedule and the intensity of this derby.
