Alcaraz The Pick Over Sinner In ATP Paris Masters 1000 Tennis

  • Carlos Alcaraz (+185) is favored over Jannik Sinner (+210) to win the ATP Paris Masters 1000 title
  • The 2020 champion Daniil Medvedev (+800) and 2020 finalist Alexander Zverev (+900) are the only other players with odds shorter than +2500
  • The 2024 ATP Paris Masters 1000 will take place on an indoor hard court surface from October 28 to November 3, 2024

Almost all of the world’s best players are converging on the city of lights for the ATP Paris Masters 1000 championship. Only defending champion Novak Djokovic, a seven-time winner of this event, is missing from among the world’s top-10 players.

It’s the players who top those rankings that are favored to win this event, albeit in inverted order. Oddsmakers are setting world No. 2 Carlos Alcaraz as the +185 favorite to win the Paris Masters. At +210, Jannik Sinner, the world’s top-ranked player, is the second betting choice to win in the French capital city.

Alcaraz Won’t Soon Forget Paris

It’s difficult to imagine that anyone has been enjoying the time they’ve spent in Paris this year more than Alcaraz. Already during the 2024 calendar year, Alcaraz has won the French Open title, beating Zverev in the final. He’d return to Roland Garros for the Summer Olympic Games, winning a silver medal after falling to Djokovic in the gold-medal match.

Is it going to be third-time lucky for Alcaraz in Paris? This time around, he’ll be playing on an indoor hard court surface rather than the outdoor red clay of Roland Garros. And he’s never won this tournament. Two years ago, the best finish by the Spaniard saw him reach the quarter-finals of the Paris Masters.

Sinner Keeps Winning

Sinner has been playing some solid tennis of late. Over his past four tournaments, he’s reached the final in every one of them. He was a winner in Cincinnati, the U.S. Open and Shangahi. The Italian has won two Grand Slam events this year.

However, this tournament hasn’t been kind to the Italian star. He’s 1-2 all-time in the Paris Masters. That includes a loss to Alcaraz in 2021.

Medvedev A Past Paris Masters Champion

Medvedev is a solid 45-18 on court this year. However, he’s not won a tournament all season long.

The Russian player does own a stellar history in the Paris Masters, however. Medvedev won the 2020 final, beating Zverev 5-7, 6-4, 6-1 in the final. Seeking to defend his title, Medvedev fell to Djokovic in the 2021 Paris Masters final.

Best Longshots

Longshots do have a way of coming in to pay in this event. Since 2005, there have been three unseeded champions at the Paris Masters. Holger Rune, set wth odds of +4000 to win this year’s tournament, was the winner as an unseeded player in 2022. In fact, an unseeded player to reach the final is offered at odds of +175.

Along with Medvedev and Karen Khachanov (2018) they are the three past champions in contention at this year’s ATP Paris Masters 1000. Khachanov is available at a betting line of +6600. Zverev and Grigor Dimitrov (2023) are recent finalists who are playing this year. Dimitrov is at odds of +2800.

If you’d like to back some home cooking, Frenchmen Ugo Humbert and Albert Fils are both set with odds of +3300. Humbert is the No. 15 seed. He beat world No. 20 Fils in the tournament final last month in Tokyo.

Paris Masters Prop Bets Worth Considering

Name the finalists is a Paris Masters prop bet being offered by Bovada. An Alcaraz-Sinner matchup is the betting chalk at +350. You can get a betting line of +2800 on a rematch of the 2020 final between Medvedev and Zverev.

Alcaraz winning the tournament without dropping a set is offered at odds of +1200. The Spaniard is even money to reach the final of the tournament.

Sinner is -150 to win his quarter of the draw. Zverev is +150 to emerge triumphant from his quarter.

Best Bet

Sinner’s only loss of late was to Alcaraz in last month’s Beijing final. He’ll be facing a rough go to get through his side of the draw. Ben Shelton, Rune, Taylor Fritz and Alex de Minaur could all be blocking his path to the final.

Meanwhile, Alcaraz is looking to be cruising through the other side of the draw. It’s not coincidence that there’s no betting line on the Spaniard winning his quarter. That’s how easy his route is looking.

There are just some things that are constant in Paris. Long lineups at the Louvre. Cheese and croissants for breakfact. And Alcaraz winning on French tennis courts. Like the imposing Eiffel Tower, when Alcaraz is in town with a tennis racket in his hand, he’s looming large over the city.
