Novak Djokovic vs. Kevin Anderson

Despite being a -50000 favourite in his 2021 Wimbledon Round 1 match, Novak Djokovic did not look quite as good as usual against a lesser opponent. He eventually righted the ship – and he is still the favourite to win the 2021 Wimbledon tournament.

That being said, we see value in Kevin Anderson’s tennis betting odds against the world number 1. Anderson has played Djokovic in some pretty tightly contested matches before – including at Wimbledon.

Anderson and Djokovic’s quarter-finals match in 2015 was an epic battle. The match lasted two days, with Djokovic nearly losing to Anderson in the fifth set (6-7 (6), 6-7 (6), 6-1, 6-4, 7-5).

Even in their most recent meeting – at the ATP Cup Australia – Anderson challenged the Joker. Djokovic won both sets, but Anderson forced a tiebreaker in both set. You will not get this type of underdog value again against Djokovic, so sprinkle a small wager on Anderson to upset the reigning champ.

Jiri Vesely vs. Marton Fucsovics

This is the third time these two players have faced each other at an ATP Tour event. They split their two meetings, with Marton Fucsovics winning the most recent one at the Doha Qatar in 2020. However, Fucsovics has been the better player this year – owning a 17-12 record against a 7-9 record for Vesely.

While Fucsovics is the higher-ranked player, Jiri Vesely has more success at Wimbledon. This year is only the second time Fucsovics made it out of the first round at Wimbledon, and he has never advanced further than the second round.

Vesely is 12-6 all-time at Wimbledon, including three appearances in at least the third round in the last four tournaments. We also like Vesely’s size in this match. Some of the larger (in size) tennis players have pushed the best players and pulled off upsets at Wimbledon.

Ekaterina Alexandrova vs. Maria Camila Osorio Serrano

Ekaterina Alexandrova is a more minor than expected favourite against Mario Camila Osorio Serrano – who is entering only her third Grand Slam match ever. Serrano looked like a consummate pro in her first round win against Kalinskaya. After losing the first set, she proceeded to win 12 of the next 16 games.

While that performance was impressive, Alexandrova looked even better in round one. She easily beat Laura Siegemund 6-1, 6-3 to advance to the second round. She had 18 more winners than Siegemund and stopped her on her three break point attempts.

I think Maria Camila Osorio Serrano has success ahead of her (she is only 19 years old). However, we like Ekaterina Alexandrova to win the match and move on at Wimbledon.

Katie Boulter vs. Aryna Sabalenka

Number two ranked women’s tennis player Aryna Sabalenka opens as a significant favourite against British player Katie Boulter. They have one previous meeting in their career – a 6-3, 6-4 win by Sabalenka at the 2019 Australian Open

Boulter looked sharp in her round one win and is now 8-2 in her last ten matches – a better record than Sabalenka 6-4 in her previous ten.

We see the potential for an upset in this match. Sabalenka has struggled at Wimbledon – going only 2-3 between 2017 and 2021. That is as many as Boulter – who missed the 2019 tournament due to injury. We can see the fans also backing Boulter – after the tournament lost some homegrown talent in the first round.

Lauren Davis vs. Madison Keys

It has been a long time since these two met in a tournament. Madison Keys won the most recent meeting – the quarter-finals at 2015 Charleston – to take a three to two lead in the head-to-head

Madison Keys is known for having one of the most potent serves and best forehands of any WTA player. Her skills give her the ability to perform well on any surface. Unfortunately for Lauren Davis, her skills are best on clay, where she has had her greatest success.

Keys also has a 70% winning percentage at Wimbledon, higher than Davis’s 55% winning percentage. We expect Davis will challenge Keys in one of the most exciting 2021 second round matches. However, we are betting Keys to come out on top and advance in the tournament.

Roberto Bautista-Agut vs. Miomir Kecmanovic

One of the favourites in round 2 of Wimbledon we are betting will win is Roberto Bautista-Agut. Bautista-Agut and Miomir Kecmanovic last played each other at the 2020 US Open. At the final Grand Slam of 2020, Bautista-Agut won in four sets to improve his all-time record against Kecmanovic to 2-0. Bautista-Agut is one of our favourite bets in the second round. Consider parlaying him with another significant favourite to get better tennis betting value.
