- What:The Stockholm Open
- When: Finals are Saturday, November 13th
- Where: Kungliga tennishallen in Stockholm, Sweden
As the world’s oldest ATP indoor tournament, the Stockholm Open will crown a champion this weekend. We have come down to the final four in the tournament and our experts are here to break down who the favorites are to win it all and how you can place your wagers.
Felix Auger-Aliassime is the highest seed left (+TBA)
Coming off an impressive performance in the quarter-finals against Botic van de Zandschulp, Auger-Aliassime opens as the highest seed still left in the tournament. The Canadian won 12 games to 7 and was able to score 11 aces during the course of his match in the quarter-finals. It was a strong performance from the second seed as he also was able to win on 82% on his first serves and 67% on his second volleys. Auger-Aliassime is the second-youngest player ranked in the top 20 by the ATP so this could be a great opportunity to lock down his first ATP title as he has been a runner-up eight times in his ATP finals career.
Auger-Aliassime is slated to face defending Stockholm Open champion Denis Shapovalov in the semi-finals.

Denis Shapovalov looks to defend his crown (+TBA)
The winner of the 2019 Open, Shapovalov won in straight sets over Filip Krajinović to secure his first Stockholm crown. He returns this year in a bid to become the first back-to-back champion since Juan Martín del Potro (16-17). During the course of his career, Shapovalov has achieved a career-high ATP singles ranking of No. 10 (September 2020) and has already shown he can win against major competition like when he beat Rafael Nadal and del Potro during his run at the 2017 Canadian Open. In this year’s tournament, Shapovalov was able to knock off Arthur Rinderknech in a nail-biting matchup in the quarter-final. One has to wonder though if fatigue will play into Shapovalov’s next match.
Americans Tiafoe and Paul round out the field
Rounding out the final four at the tournament are Frances Tiafoe and Tommy Paul. The former was able to knock off Dan Evans in the quarter-final after falling behind early on. Tiafoe scored 11 aces in his match and was successful on 73% of his first serves. Ranked as the eighth seed in the tournament, the 23-year old is another young rising star that is looking for his second career title. He scored his first career ATP victory at the 2018 Delray Beach Open and in the process, became the youngest American title-holder on the ATP Tour since Andy Roddick in 2002.
Finally, Paul was able to best the veteran. Andy Murray in the quarter-finals. Paul outlasted Murray in a fairly even contest that did see the 24-year old have a win percentage of 83% on his first serves. This is going to be one of Paul’s most successful tournaments already with the American advancing to the semi-finals for the first time on the ATP circuit. His upset victory over Murray was his first ever win over a former No. 1 ranked player ever. With the rest of the field boasting some impressive career wins already, Paul has his work cut out for him but could make personal history if he can get into the finals and win the Stockholm Open on Saturday.
The two Americans will square off in the semi-finals with Tiafoe (-143) the early favorite over Paul (+123).
Prediction: Though the field is a nice blend of young talent, look for Auger-Aliassime to make a run at his first career title. The young Canadian is a rising star in the sport and is hungry to make history in Stockholm.
Auger-Aliassime had the strongest quarter-finals performance and is riding a hot streak leading into Friday’s semi-final slate. He will have to best a solid field, but his star has been rising so perhaps this is the weekend that takes his career finally into the winner’s circle.
