Two highly ranked UFC flyweights headline the next event on the UFC schedule. That fight card, UFC Vegas 107, finds the No. 4 ranked Erin Blanchfield matched up against the No. 5 ranked Maycee Barber in a UFC Apex event on Saturday, May 31. Below is some information on the UFC Vegas 107 main event fighters before we discuss the betting breakdown for the upcoming UFC event.

Erin Blanchfield (13-2) was riding a nine-fight winning streak when she dropped a decision to recent flyweight title challenger Manon Fiorot in March 2024. The 26-year-old bounced back from that setback, her first loss as a member of the UFC roster, with a decision win over former strawweight champion Rose Namajunas in November 2024.

Maycee Barber (14-2) opened her UFC run with three straight wins. Back-to-back losses followed that stretch. Since those decision defeats, the 27-year-old Barber is riding a six-fight winning streak, most recently beating Katlyn Cerminara in March 2024.

UFC Vegas 107 Main Event: Erin Blanchfield betting breakdown

Erin Blanchfield’s five-round loss to Fiorot slowed her progress. Up until that contest, Blanchfield had been able to dictate all aspects of her previous UFC outings. Fiorot put a stop to that, using her skills to put Blanchfield on her back foot for all five rounds of the contest, holding Blanchfield to a 33 percent significant striking rate and stopping each of her three takedown attempts. Blanchfield was slightly more effective against Namajunas, landing at a 39 percent clip, while going two-for-eight in takedowns and holding Namajunas to 38 percent success in her striking. However, Blanchfield was down 2-0 on all three scorecards before she used her wrestling and upped her striking output.

Blanchfield is still learning on the job, especially when it comes to her striking and takedowns. The rising star has looked like a future champion at times, but one concern about Blanchfield is that her active schedule could be preventing her from developing her overall fighting skills.

Blanchfield does her best work on the mat, but her takedown techniques could be stronger, that’s a concern in this fight because her striking on the feet is there to serve her ground game and not to do damage or get a knockout.

Blanchfield lands 5.24 significant strikes per minute, with a success rate of 44 percent. She gets hit, on average, 4.21 times per minute and has a striking defense of 59 percent. Blanchfield averages 1.86 takedowns per 15 minutes of UFC fight time. Her takedown accuracy is 31 percent, and her takedown defense is 80 percent.

UFC Vegas 107 Main Event: Maycee Barber betting breakdown

Maycee Barber has not fought in well over a year. Barber spent nine days in the hospital following her win over Katlyn Cerminara at UFC 299. Despite the length of time she spent under a doctor’s care, no official diagnosis was offered for what ailed Barber. According to MMA Fighting, “They suspect she may have contracted Streptococcus pyogenes, a serious form of strep throat, and a staph infection. She also contracted pneumonia, and her blood pressure dropped to dangerous levels.”

Barber was set to face Rose Namajunas in July 2024, but she was forced from that event when she found she did not have the strength or energy to train for that contest properly.

Barber is a better technical striker than Blanchfield. She will look to use that advantage to keep the fight standing. Barber should also be able to score with her striking when Blanchfield looks to close the distance to go for her takedowns, as Blanchfield can sometimes telegraph her shots and timing. If Barber can keep the fight at distance, she should be able to score enough points to secure a victory. However, Barber needs to be at the top of her game when defending takedowns because she has shown some issues in that department, as well as regaining her feet once the fight hits the mat.

Barber lands 4.70 significant strikes per minute with a success rate of 53 percent. Her striking defense is 54 percent and she gets hit 2.90 times per minute. Barber lands 1.44 takedowns per 15 minutes with a success rate of 53 percent.

Best Bets: UFC Vegas 107 Main Event: Erin Blanchfield Vs. Maycee Barber

Wrestling and ground control are the big factors in this fight and Blanchfield has advantages in both departments. Unless Barber has shored up her takedown defense, she will find herself in deep water throughout the five-round affair.

The betting pick is for Erin Blanchfield to beat Maycee Barber via decision with a chance of a knockout via ground strikes.
