We are one week away from a really interesting fight between Floyd Mayweather and Miguel Cotto; however, the American seems as he can’t stop talking crap about his opponents. Everything will be decided on May 5th at Las Vegas.
Mayweather knows his big fight against Manny Pacquiao will come sooner or later, but beating Cotto will give him the edge over Pac Man in money terms, considering the Philippine looked really bad in his last outing against Juan Manuel Marques; a fight that most people think he lost.
“My offer it won’t change. I’m not budging. Forty million is what you are getting. Either you take it, or you leave it…Manny Pacquiao needs Floyd Mayweather, Floyd Mayweather don’t need Manny Pacquiao,” Mayweather said.
Floyd is not even focusing on Cotto; he just wants the fight to beat one more opponents and then get Pacquiao on the ring.
The Puerto Rican Cotto is a strong fighter that can both take and inflict pain, but Mayweather is a defensive master that won’t put himself in a bad situation most of the time; he basically takes what the opponents gives him, and then wins the match with his defensive skills.
“My preparation has been better than the one made in my last fight where I faced Victor Ortiz. I do not think there is another fighter as dedicated as me, so really I do not notice much in the opponent. Cotto should be scared”, moneymaker Mayweather said.
The easy read on this fight is that Cotto will try to attack early and often, but at some point, he will hit desperation and commit a mistake that Floyd Mayweather Jr won’t forgive.
