Will Israel Adesanya Stop the Bleeding?

After three consecutive losses and four in his last five fights, it’s clear the former UFC middleweight champion is far past his prime. The 36-year-old has looked like a shell of his former self in disappointing performances to Nassourdine Imavov and Sean Strickland, respectively. The cracks first showed in an ambitious attempt to win gold in multiple divisions against Jan Blachowicz, and he was famously stopped by his old kickboxing archnemesis Alex Pereira in 2022.

Adesanya got his lick back against Pereira but that has proved to be his only victory in the last four years. It will be over a year since UFC fans will see “The Last Stylebender” back in the octagon. Surely bettors will flock to back one of the best pound-for-pound fighters of this generation at an affordable price, but is the juice worth the squeeze?

Joe Pyfer Ready to Take the Next Step

Joe Pyfer is seven years younger than his adversary on Saturday and arrives in Seattle under very different circumstances. After thrilling knockouts on the Contender Series and in his UFC debut, Pyfer quickly became the darling of Dana White. After a five-round decision defeat to the wily veteran Jack Hermansson, “Bodybagz” has strung together three straight finishes. His opponents are not to dismiss either: Marc-Andre Barriault, Kelvin Gastelum and Abus Magomedov all fell victim to the up-and-coming star. Now in his second main event, Pyfer feels primed and ready to earn his first statement win.

This feels like a classic underdog spot in a main event against a fan favorite. Only 27% of Tapology voters are picking the American, yet he opened as a favorite. I’m not afraid of fading line movement here since most of it is likely volume-based. I’ll go with Pyfer to continue his win streak and use the struggling, aging Adesanya as a stepping stone towards the top of the division.

UFC Debutant Tyrell Fortune Worth Watching

Tyrell Fortune and Marcin Tybura make for an interesting booking at UFC Seattle this weekend. Tybura is a UFC journeyman entering his 24th fight with the promotion. North of 40, Father Time is knocking on his door, and the results are starting to show his age. Tybura was finished by Serghei Spivac in the first round in 2024, and endured the same demise in his last fight against Ante Delija. Yet the veteran was able to pick up a couple of wins in between those defeats.

His opponent, Tyrell Fortune, is also up there in age at 35 but will enjoy his first walkout as a UFC fighter against Tybura. The former Bellator and PFL heavyweight “bet on himself” and secretly trained for a potential opportunity to fight in the UFC. Obviously, the gamble paid off and now Fortune will get his chance to introduce himself to the wider MMA community. Fortune has won his last three fights on the bounce and has lost just once in the last five years.

While the jury is still out on the newcomer, I think the sportsbooks agree that Fortune is the man to beat here. It’s difficult to envisage Tybura not regressing as he enters his 40s. And competing as often as he does gives off the impression he’s here more for the paycheck than the victory. I like Fortune to have a fortunate curtain-raiser and get his hand raised Saturday night.

UFC Fight Night Bets: Ricky Simon vs Adrian Yanez

Lastly we spotlight a bantamweight battle between Washington’s own Ricky Simon and Adrian Yanez. Simon went to 2-1 in 2025, highlighted by a 1st-round knockout of Javid Basharat as a sizable underdog. But there’s a bad taste left in his mouth after losing to Raoni Barcelos in his last matchup. Now he takes on Adrian Yanez, a 17-6 pro fighter who has lost three of his last four.

Yanez is coming off a tightly contested split decision to Daniel Marcos, but that fight was back in 2024. The Texas native failed to get any work last year after his only scheduled fight was called off to an injury to his opponent. With such a long time between fights and the 32-year-old arguably in his athletic prime, it wouldn’t be shocking to see Yanez much improved when he enters the octagon again this weekend.

I think Adrian Yanez is being overlooked after some difficult stylistic matchups. He should see some success against an older Simon in a division where age is punished. I think at (+124), there is still some value on the underdog after seeing his price get as high as (+150) over the weekend.
